This episode we craft the best tier 1 and tier 2 damage spells in ars nouveau and take these weapons of destruction to the twilight forest to gather materials for our minecolonies buildings and fight bosses for loot!

Hey Sjin, you can use Ars to smelt! Research the Rune spell, and then create this spell: Touch, Rune, Smelt, Pierce X6. Use the spell on the ground and use a Runic Chalk to make the spell permanent. Remember to place a Source Jar next to the rune because smelting this way uses Source as energy :D Smelting this way is very fast and efficient. I normally just drop the items that needed to be smelt on the rune and pick it up but I imagine you can come up with an automatic dropping and pick-up system to make it easier.

honestly as much as it’s easy to zip around chaotically and do a little bit of skipping, i really love leaning into each mod as you go. like tbh the twilight forest was probably the first ever mod that made me actually want to try mods way back when. idk, just a reminder to not feel like you have to rush or whatever and blast your way into a mod

There's a number of ways to do magical smelting. Personally, I enjoy the smelting helpers from Occultism. They're not as fast or efficient as some other methods, but they're fun to watch.

Hi Sjin really enjoying the series (as usual!) Just a small suggestion that you add the 'Item Pickup' spell to the end of the long range break and then you will get the item automatically put in your inventory or in you backpack if it has the Item pickup or magnet upgrade in it. Really helpful in the nether!

There is a mod Ars Instrumentum that lets you create a Charm of Numeric Mana which is a bauble. When worn it puts numeric values in your mana bars, and you can see how much a spell actually costs.

If ATM9 has GeoOre with the Ars add-on you could get a Coal Geode little buddy to harvest the geodes and you now have a fuel source, have the starbuncle collect them. Mind you have have Mystical Agriculture for coal and such.. maybe look at connecting the inventories so your Bookwyrms can reach it, if you want to get fancy look at Scyers Oculus, Scryer Scrolls so u can reach the inventory from your tower.

So happy to see the Twilight forest has been finished!! Last time i played it ended unceremoniously at the frozen queen. Glad someone picked it up to complete it - such a cool mod.

You can use a spell turret with a smelt spell inscribed into it. If you put a pressure plate or observer you can have a redstone signal be sent from items you drop onto the ground so the spell turret goes off

Sjin apotheosis spawners are amazing you can get pretty much any mob egg with a swab and put most mobs into a spawner, i like to put the starbunkles and drgymys in them and if you upgrade the spawner with no ai you can use hostile mobs as living decoration like the book you got

I believe the loot in those big trees is always in the leaf puffs, not the center.

3:13 Yeah, I came across this result from a spell much like that one in an ATM...7?... playthrough. Charcoal smelts into graphite, and the smelt spell component along with AOE includes items laying around that area as well.

The giant trees, the treasure is in the bundle of leaves. There is a spawner and chests in them. Can find them on the map when the mobs spawn

Botania has the Exoflame, for fuleing an furnace magically or the Mystical Agriculture furnaces might be an option.

Can't you mix them? Mystical Agriculture furnace for the speed, Exoflame for the fuel?

Last time I tried the Twilight Forest you found the loot in one of the branches. There will be one that has a leaf block that is more square than the others.

TF is still a neat mod even 10 years on though the final dungeon is still being worked on but we can hope for it to be finished one day.

Last I checked, just make a touch/projectile > smelt spell, throw your food or ore on the ground, and cast it on the item dropped, it'll be cooked or smelted. You can try to automate this with Ars turrets if you want, but it's not necessary. You can use this method to farm glass, sand, gravel, various stones, etc. Combine Conjure terrain with various crush/amplify/smelt glyphs, put an item pickup glyph at the end, and just cast for awhile till your inventory fills up.

thanks for doing a magic playthrough Sjin now i got a magic itch, which is only cure is playing some magic mods .I tried all the mods modpack but my pc can't run it so it inspired me to make my own rpg style modpack

If you want to use all of the magic mods, you could look into Blood Magic for your smelting needs. The Blood Magic ARC Furnace will allow you to smelt the ores and, with the alchemy table's help, ore duplicate.

Sjin, with the cold and fire spells, you can independently add amplify to them to stack the damage and the effects 😊 also the smelt spell does not require a delay

the tree chests are in the ball shaped branches for the twilight. oh and they can spawn with 2 or rarely 3 spawners.

Or a multicolor flashing Ram like you can get if you name a sheep a certain name (forget which). I really love the TF sheep with horns and Questing Ram's shape/form (not the long boi one).

it's not the really really tall trees having chests in the middle of them, what you actually need to do is explore around the top of those trees listening out for spiders. In the balls of leaves, sometimes there is a 7x7x7 wooden ball, that house twilight cave spiders, and in there are special loot chests with the time tree saplings in. They could be in any of the balls You had most of the information, but sadly not all of it, which meant you missed a couple spider dungeons

You missed out on the Quest Ram Trophy. A Chest Should appear in the middle of the quest grove with it inside.

I'm telling You now, Iron spells is probably the Least interesting of your magic Mods. It's Highly Grind-Intensive, and once you get an endgame spellbook that's kinda-it. It has it's own armor but that's Kinda lackluster if you're going to be using Other magic mods ( mana is different from it to other mods) And other Magic Mods have more Options and variance. The only thing Iron Spells has going is that the animations and attacks look great, and some of the spells are overpowered Strong when you stack their stat ( I.E Fire damage.. Ice damage.. Lightning damage, etc )

Sounds like a lot of the problems with Botania as well. Decently powerful if on its own, but outmatched by most alternative mods.

@@Kahadi Botania I can't stand because it requires you to build a Supercomputer to achieve a Decent Jump. Like. It's by far the weakest and most resource-intensive magic mod at the same time. Iron spells is .. fun for brief power-trips. but Pales in comparison to more fleshed out mods with More reasonable progression... It does have a LOT of fun attack options and means, though. Which I wish Ars would use. I want to throw lightning bolts or breathe fire. Not just project orbs that Might hurt someone based on arbitrary conditions.

Dear Sjin, I'm currently building a mod pack that I would like to share with the MineColonies community. It's predominantly "vanilla friendly" and runs pretty well without me having to have delved to deep under the hood to do custom optimization. I am reaching out to various KZfaqrs to see if they would be interested in play testing the pack. The packs goal is as a base to build other themed mod packs from. I want to submit the pack to Forge, but want to get some feedback before I do so. If you would be interested in giving it a test drive, I would be humbly appreciative.

Twilight Forest is one of the most overrated mods. It was cool and fun to play through. Once. More than ten years ago. It hasn't changed basically at all since. It isn't even finished! Yet, for some reason, so many modpack makers not only include it, but they often gate progression through the pack based on playing through it *yet again* even though there isn't a single thing in Twilight Forest that has any effect on any of the rest of the pack. It's a self-contained mod, after all. It's even weirder when skyblock style modpacks include it, since you either end up with no ground except the points of interest, or you end up with all the ground you could want, breaking the idea of a skyblock! It's a mod that should have been phased out of packs half a decade ago, but you'll find it in nearly all the big ones.

I agree. A few packs make some okay use of it. I think ATM 7 made the Ore Hills the place you had to go to find Allthemodium, giving a reason to progress a little. And Ragnamod VII forces you to start there, which does make it a bit more interesting, having to do most of Twilight Forest with a perfectly clean start, can't even get most of the OP endgame gear until after beating TF. Probably other packs that keep it a little more interesting too. But most of them just force it in and do nothing with it.
