It's been a full year since being a full time stay at home mom! It's been a full year for sure! We've had house renovations, injuries, welcomed a baby and are homeschooling. Am I ready to go back to work? I'm sharing my work history since being a mom and how I came about being a stay at home mom, plus some thoughts on working moms vs. stay at home moms and encouragement for all moms - working or not.

What a wonderful testimony! I never take a day for granted that I get to stay home with my children. I treasure every day through the highs and lows.

I am a single mom I had to work, so my baby was in daycare full time, then when she was old enough she went to school full time. During the pandemic so around 2021 GOD Blessed me/us. He made a way for me to become a stay at home (He has and is still providing for us). Then in 2023 he told me to take my child out of school and homeschool her. It has been overwhelming, because i didn't feel qualified. But God does not call the qualified He qualifies the Callled! He's teaching me how to teach her and I'm learning so much in the process 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Being a SAHM who homeschools is the greatest gift I could personally experience and I am so thankful to the Lord that He has allowed me to be home with my children and husband!! It takes a lot of sacrifice...we have one car, don't travel a lot, etc., but it is so worth it!! Satan hates the family unit, and he has done a mighty work in this world by selling women the lie that they can have it all or that they are less than if they stay at home to raise their children and instead need to work. I truly believe it is destroying the family unit. Thanks for sharing this!! Great message!

This is such a great reminder for me to appreciate staying home with my kids. I am so thankful and try to be mindful everyday. But your certainty when you said you will never complain about staying home is so, so encouraging for me to be more intentional of my thoughts through the day. Thank you for sharing. I just knew you were going to say you’re loving being home full time!! You look so happy ❤

Thank u for sharing. I have 2 kiddos and only one of them was in daycare but I didn’t have a choice I had to work at that point. I kept working for a year when we were at the point where I could stay home because of selfish reasons. It was built into me that I had to work and contribute to the home. I felt I was having my life taken away from me at the time. When it came to my son getting ready to head to school we just felt a strong urge to homeschool and it did take a while to let go and be at peace with being home. Now I’ve been a stay at home homeschooling momma for 8 years and it’s been the best thing to ever. It did take a while to stop missing my career but gosh I would have missed out on so much. I absolutely love that I get to see my kids grow up. I feel like I know my kids so well because i’am with them all the time. It def has its ups and downs but I feel so blessed that God worked in my life to allow me to have this for my kids and family.

Thank you for sharing. I hear "being a stay at home mom is the hardest job in the world" and it rubs me the wrong way every time. I have been able to take extended maternity leaves and that time at home with my kids was the best time I've experienced in motherhood! My oldest is 11 amd I've worked full time or part time for almost all of it. I have the same desire to be a stay at home mom but the next best thing was I was able to get a full time job, from home, which has allowed me the ability to homeschool these last two years. It's HARD and like you said, I feel like I'm always failing somewhere because I can't do it all, all the time. Thank you for shedding light on how difficult it is to be a working mom. Being a mom in general is hard, but for me, I felt homesick every day I worked outside the home and I am so blessed I can work from home and homeschool now.

This was so timely for me, and I really appreciate the reminder that the work I do as a stay-at-home mom is important. I've found a lot of encouragement recently in the book Eve in Exile by Rebekah Merkle, and I would recommend it. I've been asked why I even went to college or got a degree because "I don't use it" and "someone else could have used that spot." I never wanted to be anything but a stay-at-home mom, but somewhere along the way I bought into the lie that I was too educated for it and wasting my actual potential. Is there any job that takes more ingenuity, diligence, creativity, and hard work than motherhood? I don't think so. But I had to be reminded of that. I have 3 under 5 and it's a lot of menial labor right now, not going to lie. Some days I really want a housekeeper. I need a constant reminder that God sees the noses wiped, diapers changed, board books read for the 100th time, even if no one else does, and His approval is ultimately all I need.

I’ve worked full time since before my kids were born. My oldest is 12 now and I long to be able to be home and not have to work. As she gets older, I lose more and more hope that it will ever happen before she leaves my home. What a blessing that you get to be there with your beautiful girls.

I thought I was ready to go back to work and I lasted two weeks. I am thankful that I am able to choose ( although a lot of our goals won’t necessarily happen in the same timeline if I had I stayed working ) but thankful nonetheless. All I could do when I did work was empathize with the mamas who don’t have the choice 😭 I do think my going back had to happen in order for me to regain perspective ❤ Lots of gratitude about being home full time 😊

Yes! I've worked, and I've also been a full time stay at home homeschool mom. I absolutely prefer being at home, pouring myself into my children and my husband and my home. The whole family is better taken care of since I have been home.

I was a working/stay at home with my first set of kids (2 children), a part time working mom with my step kids(3children), then a full on stay at home mom with my adopted girls((2children). I think the process of has also made me appreciate being at home full time. Im truly blessed to have a husband that enjoys a housewife/stay at home mom to our girls. He always makes me feel great about our ultimate decision for me to be home. It’s an incredible amount of work. I fostered kids for 8yrs and had so many challenge's(about 25kids), but never regretted being home 24/7. We moved on from fostering after adopting our girls, but recently had a child I had from an infant to 2yrs, come back into care. So 5yrs later(she is now almost 7) I’m doing 3 at home again, but as busy as I am, I know it’s the right path for me. Homeschooling, has also been a blessing, that I’m completely supported in my choice. Not to say it’s perfect, some days I would like a do over button! With love and laughter we are working our way through. I enjoy watching your journey, I hope the comments have been kind!

Thanks for your post. I agree people my age ( I'm 40 🙂 ) have grown up with the model of the working mom. I appreciate your view. We should normalize people in general, but women specifically, making the best choice for their family, based on the leading of your heart. The Bible has something to say about constant striving and working all day and then tending to all the needs at home can sure feeling like striving. Everyone can't get the best parts of you when you are stretched so thin. Mom guilt is real. I bet if you asked your oldest about how stressed she was at 3 about being in day care, she might not remember much. But as Mom, you remember all the feelings, tears and stress. It can be hard to put all that down at the end of the day and be present with our children. I also like to point out that our children are young for such a short time. If your youngest child reaches adulthood and you are in your 50s, you have a whole lifetime left to serve others outside the home, if you choose. If you don't stress your whole way through middle age, prayerfully you can live a long, full life. You can work, volunteer, and serve others well into your 80s. Those precious years of childhood can't be returned. I pray you have the very best holiday season! Blessings to you and yours!

Our generation of woman was set up to fail. We are expected to do it all - at the same time and do it perfectly. It took me years to find out what truly matters and that is creating a peaceful home for my family.

Woah Lauren, I can't relate more with your story! We also didn't want our babies in daycare, so we also tried to juggle different shifts so one parent was always home with them. Then when that no longer worked, I listened to the Lord telling me to stay home full time and homeschool. This goes against what I've always learned, which is to juggle it all, home children and career. I loved my career in the medical field but the truth is that career will be waiting in a few years, it's not going anywhere. My children on the other hand will only be with me for a few short years, so it's such a no brainier for me to just enjoy this short lived time! It was tough feeling odd amongst girl friends that all work in thriving careers, feeling like I'm not doing enough, but thankfully I'm waaay past that! My career doesn't complete me, I find my true value in the Lord and the role he gave me as a mother and wife. No one else needs to validate this decision for us. We've also been able to do this financially because we've been following Dave Ramsey Solutions for years, so we are very blessed to be on our final baby steps to financial peace.

This has helped me so much. I stayed home when my older kids were younger, and I did not cherish it enough. Fast forward, I have a 2 yr old, homeschool my older kids while working full time, and I’m pulled in a million directions. I am following what God has put on my heart and will be leaving my job in April. I feel so much peace with this decision, but I do feel anxious about finances and today’s economy. Wow your videos are so edifying ! And just a random thing but thank you for not saying " mama" instead of "mom" or "littles" and "kiddos" instead of "kids" in your videos. A lot of these modern, cutes, social media driven phrases really grate on me and seem showy and indulgent. Its probably because im an older, gen x mother that they drive me crazy. Suffice it to say I really appreciate the sincerity and lack of pretention in your videos!

I worked as a full time nurse from the time I graduated college to about 2 years ago. We did what we could with babysitters to avoid daycare. I personally don’t want to be a full stay at home mom and we can’t afford for me to do that. But I feel the daycare cost issue so much. When I was pregnant with my 3rd I switched back to night shift and started working only weekends, that continued through the pregnancy but after maternity leave I changed to part time nights on the weekends. It has made it so that I could homeschool when I felt I needed to.
