Great point from tasteless about getting dark archons to maelstrom the mutalisks. I've only seen it done a couple times but each time I've seen it it annihilates an entire control group of mutalisks within seconds. Zerg looks a bit overpowered against protoss sometimes, but it seems like a lot of these protoss just don't use the tools available to them. Protoss players will consistently lose virtually every single high Templar they build to mutalisks and do absolutely nothing to counter it for an entire series. If they're going to make HT the entire game, it seems stupid and stubborn to not to mix in a couple dark archons to shut down the mutalisk snipes; they can also feedback defilers. They aren't even all that expensive , the Maelstrom upgrade is 100/100, and a dark archon is only 50 more gas than a high Templar. The bullheadedness is right up there with only having one or two observers against a Zerg player with lurkers, and losing when they get sniped.

I completely agree. It works so well too that if it became the meta I would imagine Zergs wouldn't even bother making mutas. Just the threat alone of killing a control group of mutas virtually for free would be too much. Additionally they would have other uses too. As you said, they can snipe defilers with feedback (which seems even better than irradiate at that job) and I've been wondering if maelstrom would be worth it against mass hydra. It seems like it would but I could be wrong.

@@abstractdaddy1384 Maelstrom would indeed work well against Hydralisks. It's the same idea as against Mutalisks : Maelstrom into storm. I'm always surprised Protoss players don't use the Dark Archon more. It's a really strong unit. Perhaps it would be hard to use in reaction to Mutalisk because of the time it takes to research Maelstrom. You need anti-air now, when your templars are getting sniped, not one minute and a half later. But even then, the Dark Archon is good enough to fit in any PvZ scenario, so you could always build a couple of them as part of your standard army composition.

Tastosis’ casting reminds me of Halo devs talking about Martin O'Donnell being responsible for one third of the game. You have this entire tournament setup, players, directors, audio/video people, then you have two guys and an observer responsible for easily over a third of the presentation.

pretty sure Rush is the easiest pairing Flash could get. I don't see him winning against any of the 4 z in here. Also Z is the race that suffer going against random the least

That's true. As opposed to Terran/Protoss, Zerg can go for standard openings that may transition safely into a normal game regardless of the race Flash gets. Zerg don't have dilemmas such as walling, or early gas vs expanding: they can do the same opening against any race.

I suppose the main difference is the various types of dirty cheese that will be available in at the start of the game e.g. bunker rush, proxy gate, quick pool etc. Give Flash options to catch Zerg off guard. Note the ZvZ openings are 9 pool, 12 pool or 12 hatch (sometimes Over-pool too) and apart from 12-hatch these are inferior against standard macro openings from T or P

Tasteless speaking truth: the defiler is only as good as it's support and it works against own units the same way as it does against the enemies. The defiler will never kill a unit on it's own. It's tier III and needs a ton of research. Vulture is a tier 1 unit basicly free, is the fastest unit in the game, does a ton of damage, does detection and damage pretty much anywhere on the map. High dps and speed. If u play terran units right you win 100%. Dark Templar has the highest ground unit DPS. It's DPS is equal to the Ultra on units without Armor. With armor the Dark Templars DPS is even higher.

The problem with Disruption Web is that it is too costly to tech up to it and research it and it also costs too much energy for Corsairs to use it.

It's a very strong spell, it might be used more often in future but it's expensive to build the fleet beacon and upgrade

If going heavy on corsairs it also enables +2 and +3 attack upgrades. +3 upgrade with web and energy upgrade makes them strong, most of them should also have 200 energy when disruption web comes available. The attack upgrade is especially strong as it upgrades splash damage with high rate of fire and low base damage. This depends do you intend having lots of them but making 2 starports is a heavy investment. All of the units and upgrades in this game have utility when used correctly and disruption web have indeed made by the developers to counter balance lurkers as both of them are brood war units that come with the add on. Having enough corsairs on upgrades, disabling spore colonies and hydras, shooting overlords within seconds (3 shot overlords, 2 shot mutas in area damage) how can zerg ever come out of supply block ? Having Devourers which is at disadvantage with no upgrades against +attack on corsairs.

It seems like protoss kind of struggles against Zerg. But I also can't help but think protoss players could do a lot better if they built dark archons to counter mutas, reavers to counter hydralisks, and observers to counter lurkers. Every protoss just build dragoons, zealots, and High Templar, and then gets owned by some combination of hydra, muta, and lurker

yeah SC2 was better when it first came out I think, can't stand how it plays anymore seems poorly balanced and too fast (some games end in 2-5 minutes lol)

A few comments: You can't go just all hydra, because then protoss can supplyblock you for days. (In the context they were talking about. Yes, it's true you can go all hydra and defend that way, in some circumstances, but not when protoss has that quick corsairs) At that point there was no way Soulkey could have had the money to research overlord speed, drop and lurkers, while making that amount of mutas. You CAN put a spire under a cocoon, but it's so high, its top pokes out, so it's visible. Not big things, but I thought some might wonder.

He quit sc1 cause he doesnt have much profit or fun compared to get stressed when he loses the game. He is already a vip customer at the bank and has a lot of winning experience, so he doesnt seems like motivated to try hard anymore. Now he is basically a streamer, not a professional player, so he once said that the atmosphere of relying on fans' crowdfunding for his income is burdensome

@@CanariasCanariass He will be in military service, but that doesnt mean he wont be in asl. He still has wrist problem, making it difficult to join asl. He still streams sc1, but play with non-progamer for enjoys light games. And his dessert cafes are expanding its branches so there seems to be no reason to try hard anymore for money

Larva is so unlucky. He gets matched against a Zerg in ro8 again. Out of the 4 opponents he could have drawn, he would have been fine with any except for Soulkey. It was a 1/4 chance.

The problem with d-web is that you spend to much money to tech to it and research it, it takes too much energy to cast (and you need a lot of them for how many lurkers there were), and they also stiffle your own army so you can't take a good battle in that position. Mini wasn't doing too bad with the Reavers but the problem was that he had multiple Reaver drops fail, they didn't do enough damage and Soulkey had a better economy.

@@Galacsia Honestly, if you went Corsairs, they probably all have 200 energy banked, and the upgrade is only 200/200 IIRC. And you're pretty assured to break the siege. And if you only kill 2 lurkers thanks to it, it's already paid for itself. So I would tend to agree with HatchumoSC1.

**SPOILER ALERT** i really dont understand why protoss players don't use Dark Archons more. i know its micro heavy and quite expensive but watching game after game of mutas destroying HTs confounds me. theo ne time mini used it he closed the game against soulkey.

ikr, it costs 2HT in gas, including the upgrade plus the DA is not targeted by the AI, so it often survives the battles, and it's useful even against Hydras Best does use it a lot.
