even the pedals were moved closer for easier heel and toe, thats how u know honda was serious about this whole racing thing. ive never would have known that either if it werent for miroshi

Amazing grip in the wet. Proud of having a B16 in my garage(1993 eg6). Type R is one step ahead. Dream car.

EK9 might be my favorite Type R of them all. Love these cars. Sux here in the U.S we didnt even get any EK chassis car with rear disc brakes. So making a good EK takes a lot of work.

Well, over here, the sixth gen Civic (EJ in North America, EK in Japan) may not have had rear disc brakes on the hatchback, but if I recall, the EM1 ('99-'00 Si/SiR) had rear discs instead of drum brakes.

In Europe we have the EK VTI with the B16A2 with rear disc brakes and ABS 👍

I love these videos....the engineers are very humble. The DC2 ITR and EK9 Civic R are the greatest factory tuned track day specials up to even $40k and that holds true even in 2020! Incredible cars! The cars were truly a bargain given the amount of development and chnages that went even the body shell itself. Amazing that even pedal spacing was addressed!

The only reason that o asked this is because the Ek4 was the base model for the construction of the Ek9, maybe we can discover some awesome specs about the construction of the Ek4 (huge advance since the Eg6 project) , so i was wondering if it´s a good ideia to translate it. guess in 2023, ill be able to import a 97 model to the U.S. cant imagine the price that is will be by than. ITS GOING TO BE LIKE BUYING A NEW CAR OR CLOSE TO IT. im going to want a bone stock unmolested. thats for dam sure.

@@Andrew-xz8yp no. I got rid of my 2000 si right before covid. If I win the lottery ill be getting an jdm ek. Most people would buy a serious sports car. Id be happy with a bone stock mint jdm ek9.

The k20 and f20 do about the same but yeah this is one special 1.6 for sure! But you can still buy the b16b as a crate engine completely new, atleast over here in the Netherlands

The Integra Type R the first EK9 and the NSX are the cars that made Honda what they are today. The newer honda vechicles and type Rs dont compare! The only good thing they got out of the new type Rs are the k20 engines.
