Engine 74-1 fly-out assist in Laurel

It was a busy night in Laurel, Delaware with two simultaneous serious incidents. Laurel was already on-scene of a first due building fire when a medical emergency was dispatched for a child involved in a long fall. EMS requested aviation which in turn brought an engine company to help set up a landing zone. Engine 74-1 from Delmar was dispatched to handle the landing zone.

The one type of call that most ( if not all ) firefighters dread the most , calls that involves a child . Hope the outcome of the child was better

Thank you a Thomas, very kind words & hopefully the child will get better and you are in speration to a us all!! You are absolutely right about the firefighters that dread the most of all responding calls they have to go to! Ever firefighter has a child and doesn't want to see or go to a call too!! I'm a retired MSgt E-8 from Camp Lejeune in the Marine Corp & we do have injuries on our Base & we too hate to see one of our guys get hurt in Basic training & I dearly hope the child is better and doing well!!

I get it’s a bit excessive, but did you read the call was for, I bet half the guys on the truck were anxious to get there as quick as possible so the helicopter could be quick as possible.

Yes, that’s a good idea, still working on that! We are so busy every shift now, it’s crazy how busy this fire station has become in just a couple years. One of these slow days we’ll work on that.

But if nothing else, they got to wind that fire engine motor up and get all the oils moving around and stay sharp driving at night! Lots' of deer down there and loose pets, not to mention the occasional night life on Fridays' and Saturdays'. Stay safe boys and girls, our community needs you!!!!!!!!!
