@@PetesGarage Pete, i have heard many times to not use sealer on cork gaskets, and Fel-Pro even states that in their gasket kits. they say use sealer only in the corners.

Thanks for this video. I was always not clear on exactly how and where to put the right stuff on when applying a cork the oil pan gasket on the 350 SBC. I have a 79K5. I'm switching to the old school cork gasket. These one piece gaskets seem to keep giving me a small leak in the rear of my oil pan right in the middle of the U shape between the pan and gasket annoying . I will definitely try your method. 😎

I use Eastwood 2k ceramic engine paint.

Pete, I'm curious as to why you didn't use a one piece FelPro oil pan gasket? I'm never use a 4 piece design again, but wanted your thoughts.

The one piece is '86 and after. I do like the one piece, but if done correctly the 4 piece works great.

How do you seal that hole that goes into the water jacket? Just put the permatex on the bolt threads before you put the bolt in?

What are the 2 holes on either side of the lower block? The 2 holes on either side of the crank pulley. Thanks, just making sure i dont need to plug em lol

Those are holes for accessory mounting bolts

My small block chevy's through hole is on the other side. Seal both to be sure.

Just finished a 355 sbc. top to bottom. My son thought he bought a Melling pump from jegs but jegs sent there own. Can`t get much more then 10 psi at 1500 rpm then idle at 5. Guessing the spring is hung up. This has a stock pan . Can use a 1055 Melling or will it run dry? What pump do you rec? Thanks in advanced. Love the channel
