Another thing for the news to blindly blame Boeing for. Also, I’m not sure that United really has more issues lately, just that the news has put a spotlight on ANY issue that happens with Boeing or United. These things happen with ANY airline.

Speed restrictions on final kind of bother me in this situation. Granted he asked if they were able to do it and he gave them plenty of time to slow but it just seems like speed for an emergency aircraft should be at the crew's discretion and sequencing for other aircraft should be secondary to the emergency

How many Kenworth trucks crashed today? You don't know because it does not make the news. When a/c have problems, it makes the news. And the media are jumping on the bandwagon with Boeing and aviation safety in general. Boeing has some splaining to do, but honestly these things were happening all along and you just didn't hear about it. United is a very big carrier so they will have more incidents than say Cape Air. Its still safe to fly.

FYI. what is going on lately at United is nothing new, issues happen every day. Its just that right now every issue no matter how minor is getting splashed all over the news.

@@andresmith9212 .. a wheel and panel falling off is not a minor issue. Not to mention a hydrolic hose blowing either, among other things.

@@craig7350 The wheel was a wheel failure, hub broke, probably due to damage from a chuck hole ore something, panel coming off Maintenance problem also somebody forgot to tighten the fasteners when replacing panel, and hoses break also maybe nobody had checked it !!!!

The German guy - probably CP - was sure a fast talker. This looks like a fairly benign issue that was well handled with no harm, no foul, so we'll give both United and BA a break and exclude from litany of United issues attributable to perverted top execs or to BA for extraordinary negligence. Neither of those issues seem to apply here - in an abundance of fairness.

Plenty of engine issues for Airbus too, and people are quick to point out that Airbus doesn't make the engines. To my knowledge, neighter does Boeing.

tuhinsengupta there have been over 10,000 737's delivered to the airlines over 50 years, the most common aircraft in the skies and many are old nd require a lot of qualified maintanance which it seems they are not getting !!! Come on United take care of your planes !!!

It's called selective reporting. A lot of other incidents out there, but if mass media only choose to report on Boeing and United, you don't get to know about the rest.
