Do you have a check engine light on with a EVAP code? This video will help you easily find the source of the problem! In this video, Andy shows you where many EVAP related check engine codes come from. The EVAP system is responsible for safely handing gasoline vapors that build inside your car or truck's gas tank. The system uses a series of valves, filters, and vacuum pressure from the engine to safely remove gasoline vapors to prevent pollution.

Want to preserve the evap system? Don't overfill your gas tank, when it clicks it's full. Do not round up to the next dollar.

I changed the canister, solenoid valve and purge valve. Charcoal got all the way to the purge valve

I had that problem in my Civic and all mechanics that I went didn't want to do that job. There was finally one mechanic that agreed to do it but told me he dont have a tool to put vapor inside the evap so he warned me that since he dont have that tool, he just gonna guess based in stats and how the part looks. Well, he replaced the vent valve under the car and bingo! Problem solve. (I already replaced the gas cap and it was not that, I told that to the mechanic).

ITs REALLY tough to diagnose an evap system without a bidirectional scan tool and a smoke machine. I suppose you can throw parts at it and cross your fingers. I get to drop the gas tank on my car this week. Small evap leak code set. Vent valve could be audibly heard clicking when turning it off on with the scan tool. I did a purge and seal test, with the system sealed it degraded very quickly when watching the pressure sensor in the tank. Smoked the system and smoke was rolling off the top of the gas tank. Something is broken up there, hence the gas tank removal.

I just changed out my purge valve solenoid. I have a 2011 Silverado 1500 hopefully that fixes it. I have already changed out my gas cap like 3 months ago so that’s not it

My car has started just shutting off right after i turn it on, unless i give it gas right away...its an 01 Mitsubishi Diamante, computer hook up says large leak n the evap system, every now and then theres metal thunk noise coming from back around the gas tank, can happen when driving, when sitting still or even after car has been turned off... google says this likely means a stuck valve... any thoughts? The mechanic I've been talking to hasn't been very helpful

Yup I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty that has a plastic gastank. The good think it's they can mold the tank to maximize capacity while reducing the size much better than a steel tank. It also doesn't rust.

Hey, I have a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan rt, and it has a fueling problem, every time I go to the gas station and start fueling, it stop at $10 and then stops every $0.10 to $0.50 cents. I think it has something to do with the charcoal canister. But no one was able to understand. I’m in Springfield IL. Where can I go to fix this and what is the problem. Also do you have any suggestions on what to purchase for a fuel efficient car, and under 110k miles and under $14k.

I am working on a 2008 Saturn Vue 4 cylinder. Is there any difference between the 4 and 6 cylinder engines with this valve location and/or operation?

I’ve had an evap code on dash almost one year. Told I needed a new vapor canister. This week I had a leak fixed . Was blowing black smoke. Turns out a piece had a huge gash in it and coolant was leaking. Had an oil change also . Picked up the car and the evap code is gone ! Not sure what happened? Mechanic thought I blew a gasket, but the plastic part had a huge gash in it . Not sure what happened. Just wanted to know why my evap code is gone from dash? I haven’t replaced it

Thank you for all your useful and clear information's that provide us through your videos ,that makes work on cars very easy at home ,but would you please focus more in the most needed generation for that repair videos I mean (second generation 07-14 ) of (GM SUVs & Pickups GMC Chevrolet Cadillac Tahoe Suburban avalanche Yukon Escalade) ,electric issues mechanic issues accessories installing(more buttons and panels for accessories ) ,programming (like change tire size and how if needed) ,big tires off road and how to make it fit in your professional guide, advice tips about parts and lubricants when or how long after need to replace ,recalls. 1996 Nissan 240sx, when i got my car the previous owner deleted the evap system is there a way to stop the check engine light even after that without re-installing the system

Tip to avoid EVAP Issues - STOP overfilling your gas tank! Once the "click" happens while filling... STOP.

If you've ever over filled the tank before and gas backflow to the canister that could destroy it and will need replaced, you're not getting proper venting, so something is clogging the venting.
