If you were wearing a Parka & Shades, adopted his Manchester swagger at the start of this video, people would’ve thought it was an Oasis video!.......It’s uncanny!!! Great informative videos, I've a question for you? I've recently moved and the house has a three port valve, everything works independently, but if the water and heating is on together, the boiler cuts off when the hot water is satisfied, and the heating only kicks back in if I turn the water off. (I guess it may start again when the water is being called again), any ideas where the fault is?

so am i right in saying that when its CENTRAL HEATING ONLY the sequence is... Fuse spur > Controller > {CH ON > >Room Stat > 'White Wire' to 3 Port Valve > {HW OFF > Cylinder Stat off > {'grey wire' to 3 Port Valve > Moves Valve to A > Moves Micro Switch to Orange > Pump & Boiler so both the white and the grey to the 3 port are live? i hope that make sense showing what happens at the same time

Great Video as always. I think I’ve seen most your vids now 👍 Any chance you could do a review / deep dive on HONEYWELL EVOHOME inc the smart TRV’s ? It would be great to hear a heating engineers opinion on the system. It’s been out for several years and seams a great way to get multiple zones in your house without expensive plumbing modifications.

HeatingGeek Cheers 👍 There are few of these smart TRV systems on the market, but the evohome seams the most reliable and doesn’t require a subscription for certain features like Tado. Would be great to get a heating engineers opinion on something like that through. I’m already subscribed and watch your videos so I’ll spot it if you do find one in the wild ha !

Do you ever see a worn shoe which will give heating in summer when not wanted and hot water out of control ( too hot) when heating for long periods during winter -- or do they usually get scrapped before that happens ?
@HeatingGeek
@HeatingGeek 4 жыл бұрын
I have never seen a worn shoe. I think dirt is what makes them pass. They must have 50 years in the shoe. The springs will probably fail first.

A quick sand/ reprofile to seal to each port and good for another "X" years, also had a ball type in a nearly new valve which would seat - cool then grip the ball leaving a ring marking and refuse to return- stick, Broke the burr on the seat ( badly machined? ) and good to go. Never seen another one. Cheers keep up the good work🙂

Any idea why my pump runs continuously unless the switched fuse is turned off. I have replaced the pump and mid point y plan valve with all wires fitted in a like for like basis.
@HeatingGeek

Maybe your boiler controls the pump? or you have a frost stat fitted and wired wrong.

HeatingGeek hi mate. Still a scratching my head tbh. Boiler trips out when calling for HW only after a minute. Changed the motorised valve, drained the system, checked the wiring and programmer, and still no joy. It’s a pressurised tank system.

@@shoulin3822 What do you mean "boiler trips"?
@shoulin3822
@shoulin3822 4 жыл бұрын
HeatingGeek the boiler turns off, and stays off for about 6 to 8 minutes then fires back into life for 2 minutes and then off again for another 6/8 minutes. So if I ask my hw to be on for 1 hour, then the boiler is only actually on for about 15 mins of that hour. The pump run the entire time for said hour.

If i turn heating or hot water on, it can take a couple of hours to come on. I've changed the 3 port valve, and the valve clicks whether heating or hot water are demanded. However the pump and boiler dont fire up. I've changed the pump, programmer, and room stat and get 240v at switched live on the boiler as does the pump, so what could this be? Sometimes the heating may go off with the hot water otherwise it doesn't. The stats function fine too, so if there is no demand the valve moves over accordingly. It is a vaillant, and there's no fault codes and the display is working fine. Any suggestions? Only thing I have changed is cylinder stat or the flex for the pump.
@HeatingGeek
@HeatingGeek 7 ай бұрын
If you have 240v at switch live on the boiler and the boiler isn't lighting then maybe the boiler is the issue.
@nadznadz5630

@@HeatingGeek but the pump isn't firing up too. But when it is on then it can work fine, sometimes heating might go off early. But boiler would show fault code if something was wrong with it. If i bypass and put a connection between live and switch live it works fine obviously I don't have control via stats or programmer
