At long last we are ready to share episode 1 of our English Country Kitchen Remodel series! This has been over a year in the making and today's visit is packed! We will share the before, what we love most and want to keep in our original 1960s kitchen, what we will change, our cottage style inspiration, and sources! Good afternoon, Miss Jennifer! Yes to entertaining and fellowship! This and serving our families daily is what home is for! we both really do love this house. It's our first house and we have so many wonderful memories here. We've been given this home to care for and it's the nicest home we've even lived in. someday we hope to buy land in the country and on that day leaving here will be bitter sweet. I am so glad you decided to keep the good quality, solid wood cabinetry instead of replacing it with "new" ones. Not everybody appreciates the quality of some features of the older homes. I'm sure the kitchen looks fabulous. TFS.

For 30 + years I followed what was considered the “in style” look for my home. However, I was never truly happy with the look of our home. Several years ago, after a visit to our son and daughter in law, I realized there were parts of the farmhouse style that I really liked. I immediately started to thrift for items to give me that look and to get rid of a lot of the Victorian touches in my home. Once my house was fully farmhouse style for several years, I realized that there were elements of the Victorian style that were actually cottage style….beautiful floral and transfer ware dishes, doilies, paint colors, etc that I had gotten rid of and really missed. It was then that I realized, finally, that my style is cottage with small touches of farmhouse. Now I am slowly turning my home onto a beautiful cottage style. Your channel is such an inspiration and source of design ideas. Thank you so much for sharing.

Yes, it was a blessing to begin with a good foundation we could build on (especially for the budget)! The intercom was amusing. This hose is so small that if you wanted to talk to someone in the bedroom, you'd have to whisper into the intercom so they wouldn't hear you!

Oh, how fun, Miss Grace! You're at the icing part of the remodel! We are currently tying up finishing details and a couple of smaller DIY projects, so I've just started playing with decor... It's SO much fun! In the final episode, I'll be sharing my decor inspiration, taking you shopping, then we'll decorate the kitchen together. I've been looking forward to sharing this for over a year!

Yay! I've been chomping at the bit to release this series! Matt & I began working on the kitchen in August of last year and this has required some creative filming to keep it under wraps (especially when sharing the dining room makeover). We are wrapping up the final details (supply and shipping delays set us back some), and are both really pleased with how the kitchen has come together. Loved all your inspiration photos. I now this kitchen will be gorgeous. Your pantry transformation was one of my favorites. When you showed the dining room with the new wall paper, I thought the window would look beefed up with wide wood trim. It would just give it more weight and presence.
