You are listening to podcast episode 71 'Eating With Your Hands: Delightful or Deplorable?'. Increase your English vocabulary and improve your listening skills with me.
Ever wondered why eating with your hands feels so fundamentally satisfying, so comforting, so intimate even? Well, today we are challenging the societal norms of cutlery and embracing the primal, tactile pleasure that comes with savoring food at the direct touch of our hands. But this journey is not just about the physical. It's also deeply rooted in our cultural heritage, connecting us to the traditions that have shaped us. So, what's on your plate for your next meal? Remember, the world is your feast and your hands, your best cutlery!

I relished. I simply can't resist quoting you. I yield: "Eating with our hands is like embarking on a sensory adventure. A journey that connects us deeply with the food we enjoy. It's a practice that goes beyond mere convenience, it is a celebration of authenticity in a world filled with elaborate dining rituals. So let's dive right into this sensory symphony, shall we? When you eat with your hands, it's not just about the taste, it's about engaging all your senses: The touch, the smell, and of course, the taste. Now Imagine sinking your fingers into a ripe, juicy peach...The soft flesh yields to your touch, releasing a sweet aroma that tantalises your senses before you even take the first delectable bite. This tactile exploration begins before the food even reaches your mouth, setting the stage for a deeper connection. It's a journey of sensations that cutlery simply can't replicate." Wonderfully said and it somehow summarises it all! Not to mention that this is only a piece of the many gems in this podcast! Fantastic, incredible, jubilant, spellbinding, exhilarating... 🌹❤

When humans started to be around on this earth we haven’t got cutlery, so our nature is to eat with hands, that’s the first reason we love it so much, in my opinion. Recently “thanks” to the bloody Covid-19 we started to fear and to be aware about our breath and also our hands. I did enjoyed the Eritrean cousin in London eating with that yellow soft bread, with that bitter taste like lemon or vinegar and used it as a tool to grab food on a huge central plate, sharing with friends. Yes it definitely depends on cultures. In Italy we have lots of street food and we can’t eat that with cutlery 😅 😂 loved the podcast. I always shadow you in these marvellous podcasts trying to improve the pronunciation. Thank you.

Speaking of hands, what's the difference between an engineer and a worker? An engineer washes his hands after a toilet and a worker washes his hands before the toilet.
