"More reward for more skill" is definitely the way to go. These changes also mean that transport helicopters might spend more time at the frontline, where the situation is intense and uncertain, and less on boring transits to and from the bases in the rear.

Thanks for continuing to improve an already great experience. The Enigma's Dynamic Cold War Server is first DCS MP-server that I truly have felt enjoyment, thrills and a purpose. The recon missons are nerve wracking, with deciding if you should recon a few more target areas or run home to deliver the film.

Best server on DCS. I always have a blast no matter what I fly in it. I'm super glad that others do too so that this remains viable.

Is there a possibility that one day there is a second ECW server or a second mission for the late Cold war era i.e. with the Mirage 2000C etc.? Love your work for the DCS community and your videos. Your quality standards are increasing rapidly and it shows :) keep up the work!

I'm loving the new mechanics being added. Now my only wish in the near future is to also hopefully see Geopolitical missions, and also hopefully something unique like a 2 front war maybe. Like in Syria for example in the future maybe you can add something where Israel and Turkey have teamed up along with the US, and both Blue sides are pushing inward from the North and South respectively while Syria Pushes outward. (Of course Geopolitical as well as the use of appropriate units and factions) Another idea is just like how you have the occasional bombers that spawn and fly, in the cold war scenario maybe you can add a mechanism where, only when the one or more F-14s are occupied, a Tu-22 flies in from the opposite end of the map at subsonic speed but at a high alt. As the Tu-22 approaches the red side base it begins to increase it's speed till it goes Supersonic as it makes it's way to the Blue Side. So this will kind of raise the stakes as well as put F-14 pilot's intercept skills to the test. I also see an opportunity here to allow no more than maybe 2 AIM-54As per aircraft specifically for the Tu-22s so you have to be very careful and sparing when using the Phoenixs

Great work as usual, Cold war is peak DCS enjoyment. Don't get me wrong i love my F-16 but the dogfights in the F-5 are much more satisfying

Amazing work, one of the most complete servers out there for DCS. A question: will the random infantry spawns after their job check that they won't spawn inside a forest?

This is fantastic for helicopter guys and in general. Definitely my favourite DCS multiplayer server. Also weather and time changes should make things more interesting. Would love to see how game dynamics change when it's not blue sky at noon but a rainy evening for example.

It's nice to see the team taking note of suggestions and working to keep improving the server. With these helo changes it might become the n1 choice for helo pilots once again.

Great video, I will start by saying I love the Cold War server, I bounce back and fourth between the CW server and BF 80's and modern. By far the best servers for players/Pilots who value maximum realism and also the variety of platforms to choose from in these realistic simulated conflicts. Heres my 2 cents on some of the content of this video.... my caveat however is I know NOTHING about computing so I may suggest something that is not remotely possible please forgive me haha. 1. Weather: I would like to see the weather reflect the regional norms, for temps, sky condition, and season. Specifically for season, if we could have "seasons" in the server, perhaps of a few days each season I think it would add to overall immersion. For example, what I can do in a helo in very cold temps at a high elevation like some of the caucus regions, is DRAMATICALLY different that what I can do when its 32 deg C. I think having days long "seasons' with their associated weather norms would be much more realistic than bouncing back and forth each re-set. Also having more periods of darkness durning game play, I know this would be difficult in some ways BUT it would force different platforms and different Force "Postures" eg, not going to be many night CAS missions or helo activity in those days, however there would be strike and CAP activity at night. Perhaps just some shorter periods at the beginning or end of a session at first? 2. The other thing I wanted to bring up is the liner gameplay you mentioned. One of the aspects that I find very interesting about BF is that the front line can really change shape, in CW it is always more or less linear. As the shape of the from changes, it drives very different tactics and strategies as you may be facing threat for 2 or even 3 directions of the map.This forces adaptation of the team and individual strategy as the campaign progresses. Also the ability to set up additional units outside of the known locations of enemy bases (helos bringing crates) provides a very realistic "unknown" to the game. If you see a bunch of enemy helos buzzing around somewhere, you can just charge in to splash them all because you may well get a manpad up your pipe! Great job with the server, the Cold War line up certainly is exciting especially with the platforms that we know are coming in the near future. I know some of my suggestions may be a way off, that's ok just wanted to throw them out there. With planes like the mig23, the f4, A7 and A6 all on their way I think night Strike might become a little more feasible, even if its a dark departure and transit to hit the target at first light... Thanks!

I don’t think the green smoke idea being the same for each side. I feel like in a realistic war scenario they would radio the pilot with a predetermined smoke color, since we can’t do that in DCS we stick with different smoke colors per side. It just makes sense.

Those are some fantastic changes, helo gameplay looks like it will feel a LOT more dynamic. One question though, if the dropped troops only find 1 nearby target, will the entire infantry group move to that location, or will only the sufficient number of troops to kill the target be moved? Do they ever split up? Already loved flying the helo's on caucus, with these changes I feel like they'll be a lot more fun on Syria too.

I'm really looking forward to more recon. I love running ATG missions, but I always find it very hard to actually find ground targets, especially on the Syria map. Having some markers should give me a good boost to actually help my team instead of getting blown out of the sky while I look at the empty ground.

Quick question on the troop recovery mechanics. Will we have to be on the ground or is it similar to picking up a CSAR where we can hover above the troops if they are in a wooded or area we cannot land?

Really like the ability to leverage the Hind in a new way. Is randomized spawn points for the AI ground feasible? Thereby making recon even more important. Great stuff.

Awesome! Been doing a lot of Huey practice lately so this is perfect timing. Is it possible to attack enemy troops while they are waiting for a pick up? Would be fun hunting them down for revenge attacks. Edit: Just saw the news about the F-100! Cold war is the future of DCS!

As an emerging cold War flyer will we get to see the r530 on the mirage? It was deployed in 1962 and is time period correct. I don't feel with the radar as it currently is on the F1 that it is to much more of a force multiplyer over other jets.

3:23 for Heli recon

What settings do people use on this server? I have high specs and 32gb of ram but get like 5-10 fps whenever i play on this server with the lowest possible settings. My ram is always at 100% too, which i dont know why thats the case. I do really enjoy this server though, when i do get some times with better fps i love flying around and getting some cool action ingame

i was playing a few days ago, and i managed to force the enemy into a stall at low altitude, thus getting a maneuver kill, but sadly, there is no way of earning credit for this type of kill. Would it be possible to develop a way to track this sort of thing? i feel like without it, there is a gap for a player who is certainly going to lose, to simply crash their jet, so the "winning" player receives no credit for what would have been a splash.
