Just found this channel and I'm blown away! You broken down the knowledge of my hair to a fraction! I'm about to start this journey and wanted to know more than trend talk! I do do things just because everyone is doing it but i have to know the logical reasons behind it! Most people simply talk trendy nut you've explained things so wonderfully and supplied real knowledge about our hair! Thank you my sister! I'm getting excited about this new journey!

I’m a yr + into my sister Locs journey and found your channel just scrolling thru. It is the most defining and informative channel I’ve came across to date on low density hair. You were to the point, informative, covering all the relevant areas in caring for and expectations with this hair type. You broke down the pathophysiology of fine hair and build upon that. I’m extremely grateful to have found you💯

I agree this is why I had to cut my hair off and start all over , the lady that did mines wouldn’t never listen to me when I requested certain things and she use to spray hair spray when I told her that I didn’t want that in my head and over time my locs started thinning so I cut them I’m thinking about micro locs

I love how you explain in sooooo detail about low density hair because I cut my locs off (2 1/2 growth) to start my micro loc (I wanted smaller locs) journey myself and it’s the best way (for my hair) because I like doing different styles but don’t like the tension so thank you soooo much for explaining 😊

Loved this video. I am on my 2nd loc journey. I started my first journey with extentions an un be known to me I believe I have 4c fine low density hair. A much different to texture to 4c dense hair. I always wondered why I was able to manage my loose natural so well no matter how incredible the shrinkage was..lol Throught the year I noticed that the extention was always so much thicker than the hair growing from my scalp, it never matched. This was causing me to wrap hair in to complete match the thickness. After a year I was tired of this and combed everything out and restarted with 2 strain twist. I was so confused as to what part size to use. I assumed bigger parts would make a fuller loc but I saw too much of my scalp, smaller parts made me have micro locs which would mean longer maintenance. I decided to go with smaller parts and 2 strand twist; crossing my finger the part size is what I liked. After two months I took some out and redid some parts and insta locked them after because the strands keep unraveling and I am now 3 months in and I think I finally got the lock part ratio right. I am glad I finally found your page because after hearing all your points I now have a better understanding of my hair. I almost considered combing these out and ket a professional restart me because I didn't like seeing my scalp, I am now going to embrace that I have low density hair and I will see my scalp and I can't let my new growth grow wild to avoid seeing my scalp...lol

I love the way that you break things down. In terms of appropriate lock sizing, I do feel like that is the job of the loctician installing/establishing the locs. Most people know what they want, but they don't always know what they need. The difference between a good loctician and a great one is a good one will install locs you want and they look good for the moment where a great one will explain why what you want is not what you need and install locs that make sense for your hair long term.

Wow!!! Where were you almost 30 years ago when I first started my traditional locs ,which have long since broken off because I have fine, low-density hair, but didn't know it? I found your channel this past weekend because I'm about to start a microlocs journey. I just LOVE your channel! You are a wealth of important information that I just can't believe I'm learning for the 1st time at age 58! For example, I had NO idea about my low porosity hair and why I've struggled with retaining moisture until I howled at your bougie analogy. In addition to your wisdom and expertise, I really love your wit and sense of humor. Thank you for EVERYTHING and I'm sending ALL best wishes to you.

I just cut my bra strap length locs off and combed out the base because my small locs were breaking off. I got tired of paying loctitians $$ to reattach them only to have them fall out after a few weeks. I plan to nourish my scalp and hair for 6 or so months, then start over next year with a thicker loc base. Great video for us folks with fine, low-density hair!

This video was very helpful! I am doing my research and starting some sister locs. I cut my hair down about a year ago and there’s a decent patty up top now that i typically keep braided 😂 I am not a hair person, i tired the natural and all them products made my head spin and my pockets thin! Both of my sisters have locs and i love their hair for them… they have traditional locs (forgive me if i am not saying this correctly) but I think sister locs would work great for me as i do like styling my hair when it was relaxed years ago…. This info was truly appreciated ❤

Pauline. Thank you. The light bulb just came on for me as to why my initial set of sisterlocs failed. I have fine, 3b, 3C, 4a...with scattered bits of 4b/c hair. I had SLs installed in 2019. What did I want in 2019...small SLs. The smallest possible. What did I need....2 stand twist microlocs with a 1/4 to 1/8 inch part size. In 2019, 580, give or take 10, were installed. While beautiful they were unsustainable for my hair. My hair was just too fine, especially around the perimeter. So, three years after combining locs I had to say goodbye, 4 months ago. Broke my heart; yet also led me to an important lesson. Do the research, and here you are. Sharing, Pauline. Today I learned that stability first, then beauty, is the name of the game for us fine and loose curly hair types. LOL. Seriously though, its true. Oh, and I was going to have extensions placed to assist with the unraveling....not a good idea. Thank God for you, Pauline. You are an Angel. With information, you've saved me potential heartache and disappointment; along with my pocketbook. I was stuck on how to prevent 2 strand twists from unraveling....after watching this video I get it: With a 1/4 to 1/2 parting size more strands make up a loc which allows for stability, and support, of "said loc". So. Thank you again. Tonya

Thank you Beauty, you have answered many questions I’ve had and affirmed things I felt I shouldn’t do to my locks. I have some gray so I’ve just been coloring my hair natural black because I’m not ready to go gray yet. And during lockdown (Covid) I was painstakingly retightening my own hair really for two and a half years I did my own hair. So at this stage I really don’t want to cause damage. You have really helped me with this video. I completely understood your explanation of having wholes in the lock. 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾❤️❤️ Thank you again.

Hi. This was such an informative video. I am the victim of fine low density hair. I am a little short of a year in my journey and my frustration is coming from the stragglers. I love the way you broke down everything the only question that I have is I'm trying to figure out which should I get sisterlocks or micro locs I have fine low density hair and all of my edges are completely gone...... I had dreads before, and it started making my hair thin, I believe, due to the lack of me not getting it washed and conditioned and retwist often and the Styles I was getting was too tight around my edges

I feel like you're the person to ask, so I'm gonna do it. Do people with micro locs have problems with thinning edges? What I mean is, are microlocs more gentle on the edges vs. traditional locs? I have traditional thick locs, and my hair is fine, so my edges are SUPER fragile and can't take any type of tension, even a loose scarf. Also, do microlocs marry at the roots like traditional locs? Or flatten at all? My only problem with thick locs is that they flatten so easily or become misshapen quickly.

Thank you for your informative video on fine hair. This is video is the best that I have seen with my hair type. My what is I understand that I should hydrate my hair 2 to 3 times a week. However I have fine soft curly hair and every time I mist my hair with the rosewater and oil. My hair is a frizzy puff up mess. What should I do? I am in 11 months into my loc journey. Thank you for your help.

Yes, unfortunately with your hair type, frizziness is the norm. I would suggest twisting or braiding the hair after spraying to tame the frizz. Let it set then take the twist/braids out. As your locs mature, the frizziness will decrease but it won't go away.

Yeah, unfortunately if you have fine, low density hair, bulk doesn't exist

Hi!!!! I have 1/2” parting. I recently got my install, it’s done beautifully but it’s soooooo tiny and I’m afraid these are more SLs than MLs uuuggghhh. Im sure she did what was best for my hair and I’m trusting the journey because they’re paid for and wasn’t cheap and but even she assured me they are MLs but my gut is telling me something else. So I’m stalking videos for fine thin LD hair because I need reassurance and this video helped.

Glad this video helped. Yes, with 1/2" parts, you're in the microlocs category. It would need to be smaller for it to be considered sisterlocks. Because you have fine low density hair, the strand of your locs will be small and probably even look smaller than some sisterlocd individual

Very helpful video and I am now following as I’m just starting my microloc journey as of 7.18.24. This was the first time I was told by anyone I had low density hair and the locs needed to be smaller. I had traditional locs with extensions in 2021 but didn’t like it. It only lasted 3 weeks. Now, I’m am trying microlocs and will stick with it.

Great video! What are your thoughts on using oils? I’ve heard, “ Don’t use anything but water”, “Add oil to your water, but only spray it on your scalp” and on and on! I’m totally confused and don’t know what to do. My hair is the perfect example of fine, low density.

I am PRO oil. Of course, I wouldn't suggest it if you're newly locd with fine hair and loose curl pattern, especially if it's short. Overall, it all depends on the type of oil you use and how. Here's a video that goes into more details about oils kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p9iKZ5l3xqeciGg.html

Thank you Pauline on this information. I have fine thin low density loose curl hair and 21 months Sisterloc’d. Question can I color the gray no bleach but I use developer? How can I correct bunching? After I colored my hair I experienced bunching and had it repaired. Then I went swimming in the ocean for salt water locking and my ends bunches again!! How can I prevent and avoid bunching? How will this impact my locs formation? Thanks
@EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can color the grays but because your locs are still forming, you must bundle when coloring, protective style at the beach, etc. This is how I color newer locs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a9R6dalj1tbScnk.html In my last live, I showed how to fix bunching but will be doing another video on that. Also, watch the protective style video. That gives a lot of info on how to avoid bunching as well.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this information. I have been searching high and low on YT and you summarized everything in one video!! I plan on installing my own medium-sized microlocs due to my low hair density. I do have a question though.. I know you advised 2 strand twist (which is the method I am going to use), I was wondering if I could start off with braids at the root and then the 2 strands? I ask because I am not sure if my hair will be able to hold the the twist without a braid as the base. However if starting with the braid will damage the integrity of the loc later on as it matures then I will definitely not go that route. Please help😫
@EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty Ай бұрын
@empress2024 yes, you can start the two strand twist with a braid. You can braid about an inch and then twist the rest.

Question about the loc extensions. You mentioned not to do it because your hair will not be use to the extra weight. What if you already have locs and cut them off and replaced them with extensions. Technically, wouldn't your hair be used to the weight at that point?

This video provides a wealth of information! Thanks soooo much! I actually came looking for info on Low porosity hair, since I am in the fact finding stage, but for your very helpful vid instead. When getting Sister Locks does your hair density matter?🤔 Thanks again! 🤩😍

Yes, to some extinct. Your density determines the size locs you can get.

Came across your channel and must say i got the most useful information for fine low density hair. How many locks would you suggest for someone with such hair type and small sized head. Will 200 locks be ideal. Will the hair look fuller with this number as time goes on?
