Girrrrrl porosity is something else. As, a low porosity girl myself, I learned all about it when I went natural. The key for me is HEAT! Love hearing you talk about it on the loc side of things. Pretty much the same as a loose natural. The locs just need to be mature before adding conditioners. Thanks for sharing and keep the loc info. coming!😉

You are AMAZINGGG, Pauline! You are basically an encyclopedia of hair knowledge!!!🤗🥰 I learn so much from your videos so, I HEART-FELT, THANK YOU. My ONLY regret, in my 8 month, microloc journey is this...I made an appt. w/you to have my consultation, but then, canceled, upon realizing how far from me you are! (I'm already 45 min. south of ATL😬). In retrospect, that inconvenient drive is a sacrifice I'd HAPPILY make, given the chance to do over!😊 Looking forward to learning more, and, I want to learn to retie, when you get the online classes up and running!!! Thank you so much again, beautiful one.🥰😘

This video is so informative! Thank you for taking time out to educate us on how low porosity and high porosity works with locs. I recently switched from traditional locs to mircolocs. I'm 6 months in and I noticed my scalp is extremely dry and flaky with the sisterloc dandruff shampoo I'm currently using. I just purchased a low porosity shampoo buy Shea Moisture that clarifies. I'm praying it won't dry my scalp completely out. I will definitely try what you suggested. Wash hot with shampoo only for now (since my locs aren't mature yet) and seal with cool water at the end of wash. 🙏🏾

@LadyDee150
@LadyDee150 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for this bit of knowledge. I've been micro braidloc'd for almost 20 months and my hair is mostly low porosity. Also, I have a much looser curl pattern in the front and crown areas of my head. ( The curl patterns on my head range from 4c to 3a) So far, the locs in the back and sides (which are 4b/4c), are mostly locked, but my front and crown areas have made no progress. The braided section in those areas still looks freshly done and only the interlocked portion at the top gives the idea that I'm trying to lock my hair lol. I thought it really odd until I listened to this video.
@EnToiBeauty

Yeah, different textures will react differently than others. But it is very common for the hair in the back and front to loc first. That top part is always last especially with a looser curl pattern.

Thank you for this video. It has been a learning experience since atarting Mt loc journey. I would like to see more videos on porosity. Maybe doing a video for each porosity. My stylist told me to put oil in my dry hair, well the oil doesn't penerate my hair and Sits on my hair like water beads. She also told me water isn't a mosituzer. I'm getting the feeling that I need to change stylist . Your video was very helpful
@peachez007express
@peachez007express 7 ай бұрын
I don't want to speak ill of your stylist if you still have her. However, oil is not a moisturizer. It is a sealant and possibly a carrier meaning that it allows whatever else that you put in your hair to be carried to the matrix of the strength into the cuticle of the hair and past. The follicles of pastor lifting leaves that she's now speaking about in regards to high porosity. So if you are low, porosity oil is almost your enemy. Your ideal moisturizer should be a more liquidy based moisturizer such as a water based or not water, but it can be water, but it doesn't have to be plain water. Rose water comes to mind immediately. Any kind of liquid and then sealed with a cream. A light based cream. For your low porosity hair. Well should only be used in extreme weather or that is drying out your hair more than normal. And then in that case you want a lightweight carrier oil such as jojoba oil, grape seed oil. Some people like coconut oil but it also has a protein base and it can be irritated to some people. Jojoba oil and grape seed oil best mimic the oil that your scout naturally makes a sebum on your scalp. But as I said before, cream would be your best friend, a liquid type moisturizer with all the healthy ingredients that you can find and if they don't have enough I am prone to putting mines in myself. I constantly add vitamin e. I always add a little tea tree oil and peppermint or scalp simulation to help improve growth and whatever else I particularly think that my hair might need. I'm so sorry this was so long, but I felt like I needed to be sure that I cover everything so that you can make the best decision for your hair

Thank you for your wealth of knowledge. This is the first time I've heard of the two finger test for hair porosity. Does it matter the texture of your hair? Mine is kinky, and so it is naturally bumpy and not smooth. I believe I have high porosity hair. How do you distinguish the hair smoothness from the texture?

It has always been hard for me to determine this. I assume since i bleach my hair is high porosity hair. However, it seems it either low or medium! My curl pattern always seems to snap back. It seems to suck up any moisture, the air, and never let go.I still do protein treatments. I have an appointment to get starter locs at the end of the month. I guess can't get them since i just bleached.😢

@EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty 2 жыл бұрын
Sure thing! I will definitely be doing a more detail video for just low porosity. But the main thing is during the shampooing process, rinse the conditioner with cool water to seal the cuticles. Also, after applying a leave-in conditioner, use a sealant (oil) to lock in that moisture.

Great video… However my hair is actually low porosity, It doesn’t absorb moisture well. I have to use very moisturizing conditioner or shampoo. It’s usually dry and dried ver quickly, because it barely absorbs moisture. I do have pretty shiny and smooth strands, and it it pretty dense. It’s prone to breakage from drying, and I have to steam treat it, and moisturize frequently. Also 💦💦💦, is my best friend. I have to drink a lot!

Unfortunately, I’m watching this video a lil too late for me😮. I wanted to lighten my hair prior to my locking it because I liked the look of lighter tips on the ends. Now, I am that upside down umbrella😢. On some of the sections that were lifted & some breakage at the root. My hair is approximately 6 inches with one inch were it broke off. I have 4C textured hair. It use to be normal porosity. Now its frizzy, guessing I turned it into high porosity hair. Is it possible to get sisterlocs on my hair & cut lighter hair out as it grow out? I really do not want to go the bald route. I’m trying to get my hair done ASAP by u & sis of course I have already looked up ur location. I will be calling in for a consult.
