As an entrepreneur, I feel the pain of this couple. They should license their patent. They have a good idea but they need the right partner.

I've dived for years and although this is a great idea, red light is filtered out first by water at depth and would appear white, rather than using a specific color, and especially red I would suggest they use a strobe light to indicate emergency as this is always visible.

He mentioned that they had an offer to buy the patents, but they refused to sell without knowing the offer. After everything they've gone through, they are bark raving mad.

Colours become increasingly hard to distinguish underwater and red more than any other colour so I’m curious as to whether this actually works in circumstances when it’s needed.

Two older people detail their disabilities and open heart surgeries and claim to be strapped for cash. Why the hell would anyone want to throw them money if they're likely not going to be healthy enough to run the business? Honesty to a fault.

Gawd I hate people that cry on this programme, just talk!! Crying and telling a whole life story doesnt make investors believe you're a strong investment lol.

I have to ask myself what their real motivation was....saving lives or making money? They could easily have licenced the product or sold the patent, they would have succeeded in both.

Unfortunately for these two neither of them is a young, beautiful lady. Otherwise with a heartfelt story like this and a bit of tears the dragon's would have been throwing their money at this project.

Thank goodness this worked out for them, and great to see a clip that added value to the entrepreneur rather than score silly points off them (with the exception of Evan's incredibly distasteful commentary). I'm glad this worked out, but to be in that position and take a 200k risk on a new product, self-funded, facing massive health issues and then deny initial licensing opportunities is pure madness.

As much empathy I have for them, this is not the way to go to get investment. I'm not judging. I know I can get emotional at times. I just wished it was handled better, for their own good. Godspeed.

Seems that they succeeded despite the show, but wow what an exhausting emotional couple. I'm kind of immune to emotion, being that I'm an emotionally bankrupt sociopath...this couple would drive me insane!!!

I'm no engineer, but surely an existing tank would need to be reconfigured to fit this device. The only market they have is the manufacturers, and maybe they found flaws in the device or weren't interested.

I'm surprised something like this doesn't already exist. That's like buying a car without a low fuel warning light!.

Part of diving is learning to be responsible for monitoring your own air supply. The guide/instructor should be asking new divers to check their supply every few minutes and this is key to instilling this habit. My worry with this is that lazy instructors would just turn around, see a flashing light and think all was well, or looking around seeing it flashing red and thinking, OK time to turn around. A responsible instructor/guide at that level should know exactly how much air everyone has left in their tanks.

Cant believe they havent pitched this to companies that provide the gear for the tank, as a safety add on feature.

I'm not a diver but I recognize the value of this. I'd strongly consider investing in this.

They are clearly bad business people. They went in saying they've blown through £200k, they're desperate and out of money, they've lost their other businesses and investments, they're sick and injured and mentally ill, they've made no sales, AND they've turned down an offer to sell the patent from a huge company. I wouldn't have invested either.

What a lovely couple. Despite the terribly difficult times they’ve had to get through, they’ve stuck together and supported each other. I really hope they were able to capitalize on this great idea and achieve some financial security.

If I had that much money I would also view my part of Dragon's Den's as a possibility for charity. What I mean is I would love to be so financially secure that I could love and care for other humans even if there is no return on a specific investment. That really would be lovely. But when I reach that point I will do so. Sharing is caring❤

I wonder if there could also be a wrist part with the lights. Water absorbs radio but it should be possible to have something that can successfully transmit under ten feet. A wire could get tangled.

As a professional diver myself I wouldn't call that a safety device. You rely on your buddy/instructor/dive leader to keep track of your air supply instead of checking it yourself, and that's not a good practice. It also doesn't tell you how much air is left. When I ask my divers how much air they have I remind them to check their gauges and it gives me a chance to properly plan and adjust the dive. A blinking light doesn't give me the information I need to give my diver a nice experience. If I worked for a dive operation that used these I would 1. most likely be back at the surface before it started blinking red. 2. spend the entire dive staring at my divers' lights and no time guiding and looking for marine life (i.e. my job).

Why not ask how much the buyer wants for the patent.

100% they should license to an existing company and collect royalties on every one sold. They should have done that from the start without going the patent route frankly.
