Here are 3 initial moves to throw first in a sparring blitz or charge, followed by follow up techniques that flow with those initial moves that make up 3 combos.
Always remember, when throwing an initial move cover as much distance as possible and always try to throw with your front side. Follow up techniques should be contrasting (high low high or middle, low, high)
Let me know what you think of these? The next series will be based on closing the gap, so stay tuned...

This is awesome, love the three punch combo, I found good success from throwing the first 2 and getting points on Reverse punch but I love the extra back fist as I feel I can rush them! Really helpful

Yes. In my competition days! And last year in sparring in UK (Im in Australia at present). I won a big Australian tournament (veterans plus regular bbelt divisions) just prior to retiring from competition at age 38 using esp that initial lead punch plus follow up rev punch (the blitz made famous by Steve Anderson). My other scoring techniques were based on lead leg kick techniques I got from training with Bill Wallace in 1980 just prior his retirement. That blitz' Nasty Anderson did was based on him studying Howard Jacksons punching techniques. Your Dad may have some insight on that based on what Norris was showing the TSDo fighters back in the day!

when you blitz you should pull the lead leg back for maximum speed and penetration unlike boxing where you push of the ball of the back leg

These sparring combinations combos are excellent, of which I believe that with the rapid punching combination, can then lead to a leg sweep. In other words in Kyokushin Karate we use the hands to set up leg attacks and vice versa, we utilise leg attacking techniques to set up successful, hand attacks. Simply put like your theory we rely on explosive speed, with different combinations of high, low, hi, or low high, low, hi variations of attacks, plus devastating power to finish off an opponent. Just curious Sensei Ichi do you use various low leg kicks, as well as leg sweeps in your Tang Soo Do art? Excellent step by step, combat drills combinations, in all your videos. I hope your week has been going well, looking forward to your next tutorial on techniques, Osu! Juan 👍 ☺ ✌.

Thank you Juan! We definitely do, I've made videos about sweeping when people kick at me. We also throw low high round kicks to disguise the high kick with the low. We do the same, disguise the techniques with misdirection... Works every time! Always a pleasure speaking with you!

@@SenseiIchi awesome we ourselves use lots of leg sweeps, as well as low leg kicks, combined with body punches, to ultimately disguise our kicks to be delivered to the head for devastating knock-outs. Awesome work as always Sensei Ichi, Osu! 👍

@@SenseiIchi I'll change it up depending on how they react. If I get a good snap and get in and connect with it, sometimes they'll turn their head away to try to avoid it, if they do that I can usually follow up with a rear hand cross to the head while still advancing and throw a combination as they stumble back. If they react by pulling their hands up, then I follow with a low body shot. Alternatively sometimes I do a quick jab to the body instead as an opening move. It's a little unexpected and I'll come in as if I'm going to hit high and I'll use my rear hand to guard my face while I step and do more of a lead hand driving reverse punch to the body. It connects about half the time but when it does, they usually sink down from it or take a stumble back. Also one of my favorite entries is using my lead hand to very quickly pat down their lead hand and then immediately roll into a backfist to the head from there. I've had a bit of success with that one, followed by different combos from there :)

@@ArtofOneDojo So you're implementing a very reaction based sparring mindset. When having a skill set/bag of tools aka quick reaction, basic sparring strikes, you're able to use those tools to their fullest potential when you see the opening or create the opening during an offensive attack . I love it!

@@SenseiIchi I try, but that also means I try to be mindful of the same thing being used against me. We have a Kenpo school near by that holds open sparring sessions monthly and everyone is welcome (as long as egos and pride are left outside) for friendly sparring, but we'll get people of different disciplines so it's great to practice with other experience. Some of those guys do the same thing I do but are better so I've been caught by some of the same explosive techniques lol. But yes, generally I like to try to set up openings or find them on the fly.
