EP 116 Crossing Newfoundland By ATV Day 1 - Argentia To Clarenville

This video highlights Day 1 of our ATV FUN Crew crossing Newfoundland by ATV trip. With great excitement we began out Cross Newfoundland ATV trip. We rode through some beautiful country, stop at the usual lookoff just outside Argentia, saw some kids jumping off a neat diving board into a lake in the middle of the wilderness :), veered off of the T'Railway and cut through Jacks Pond Provincial Park where they were having Christmas in August :), ate lunch lakeside, played in a mud hole a little and finished up our day in Clarenville where we stayed for the night. It was an awesome first day of our trip!
It was an epic 9-day adventure (2 travel days and 7 riding days). The ride started in Argentia and finished in Port Aux Basques. It took us 1131 Km through some of the most beautiful countryside with frequent stops in the most scenic spots along the T'Railway Provincial Park.
For any avid ATV or Side by Side rider this should be at the top of your bucket list for riding in Canada!

Thanks, appreciate the support and hope you enjoy the videos. The NL trip is an awesome adventure for sure. I've organized another trip for this coming August and can't wait for it to happen :) Hoping to get up to NB for some riding I noted near future as well.

Nice first day. I enjoy the East coast side as well. I think folks disservice themselves by only doing a West side trip.

I enjoyed the whole trip tbh but having grown up on the South/East coast there was more "newness" from Central to the West coast for me :)

@@BackCountrySxSAdventures that's why I also added the CBN route as well. Also gonna try to get to Swift Current to see Vern's cars.

@@kenp4464 I'm fro ma small community about 45 minutes from Swift Current (Vern's home). He has an awesome car collection, definitely worth a visit. I've been working on an ATV GPS track from Come By Chance to my home town. Something for a future adventure :) It's about 110 Km one-way. From the T'Railway exit at Come By Chance it's only about 20 Km to Swift Current.

Busy spot lol. What month did you go? We went the first week of August and was super hot and dusty. Next year’s trip is booked for September, hopefully weather cooperates.

We boarded the ferry to Argentia on Friday, August 19th and then the ferry back to North Sydney on Friday, August 26th. Weather was mostly sunny and warm with a couple days with some mist but no heavy rain.. We found the key to eating the minimal amount of dust was to space out a lot when on the T'railway and dirt roads. Then we'd gather at a point of interest to hang out :)

I'm using a GoPro Hero9 and shoot in 4K/60fps with the bitrate set to high (change that in the GP settings)

What app did you use on your tablet? I have BCN pro loaded with crossing Newfoundland maps loaded on it.

I use the GAIA app (with subscription for some extra features). I downloaded and edited a few different crossing Newfoundland GPPX files and added some changes for my group :)

I'm enjoying your trip to NFLD , Just wondering what tablet you are using with the Gaia app. Thanks. I am hoping to do the trip this coming summer.

Thanks, I enjoyed it so much ( originally being from NL I may be biased :) ) I've planned another trip for next Summer (2024) with some other friends :) Last Summer I had an iPad mini 5 (cellular model) and this year since I have more space and the media mount in my SxS I'm using an older iPad Air 2 (cellular) tablet. If using an Apple tablet it needs to one a cellular model in order for it to have the GPS chip in it but a cel service or subscription is NOT required.
