and I will say this about The Abyss before I go: that shot of the underwater Atlantis world reveal is one of the all time greatest reveals in cinema history.

Avatar 2 though... LOVED IT. I won't spoil the ending for anyone who hasn't seen it but that ending? I was literally crying. I had 3 sons between seeing the first one so that ending tore me up. Plus it's just an overall awesome movie.

Other than Titanic I've, enjoyed the rest of his movies. Aliens is probably my favorite of his movies and my favorite Alien movie in general.

dude i LOVED Avatar at the movies. Seen it like 6-7 times in the 3D iMax but when it came out on Blu-Ray, in none 3D, i thought it was pretty bad honestly. Avatar is all about the spectacle, as it's own movie it's pretty bad considering who made it.

I can't watch The Abyss, I get that the claustrophobia is part of the actin but I just can't watch it. That scene where they're in the mini-sub and it starts leaking while they're in it gave me a full on panic attack the first time I seen it. I'm sure it's still an awesome movie, the entire idea of The Abyss is incredible.

I think Titanic is one of the greatest movies ever made. I mean go back and look at the other movies being made around that time in 95-97: NOBODY was making movies of that scale and definitely not on that level. I love that movie. I watch it with my wife every rainy day. I'm sure you know why right Hughesy?

@@HughezyEntertainment Avatar 5 was delayed from 2028 to 2031, so 3 years. I don't know why. The movies take a long time to make. But that's a long ways off, and we have A3 in 19 months. Maybe some ill-will but with a bit more of a gap the movies will seem more like events.

@@HughezyEntertainment They started filming performance capture in 2017 for both movies, then all the live action in for both movies. Then the most intensive CGI of any movie ever had to be worked on. It was supposed to be released in 2021 but then covid delayed it another year.

Cameron is overrated by some people. He's a very talented director when it comes to fast food entertainment, but I don't think he's an all-time great writer or director.

If you like a Happy Meal from McDonalds, that is fine but it's silly to act like it's a steak from a top-of-the-line restaurant. James is a Happy Meal and that is fine.

He makes GREAT movies but they're way too long. I have Avatar on DVD since it came out and I've watch it once at the movies and then once at home, no one has or should have that amount of free time to watch a 4 hour long movie.

Judgement Day was said to occur in 1997 and it did, James Cameron made Titanic and since then he has not been able to make anything thought provoking or well written. Now he makes glorified special effects reels that go for 3 hrs plus.

I will say though that while watching Avatar 2, which i loved, I though the 205 underwater scenes was too much. I mean I get that he was doing 3D underwater for the first time... but did we really need ALL those scenes?

I'm just not interested in animated films trying to pass themselves off as 'live action' cinema, regardless of who is directing it. Pretty much everything about that 'movie' and its follow up is crap. Cameron has become a technologist, not a director.
