I think it’s important to note people should fit one of those one way valves like you have on a air line to release some pressure from the dosing tub/ jug or add a small hole or even remove the seal/ washer on the lid .

CJ, You are so fortunate to be able to use the closet. Tell it how it is like you do with the good and the bad it’s just how it goes as we know. I mainly talk about my screwups or learning curve/opportunities to my wife. All the good just gets placed into the category of everything else is good. See you on the next one. Take care

I just got over the hump with that nasty brown stuff. Took about 7 months with MB7 and added pods from Algae barn but now the tank looks great and don't even have to touch anything in the tank.

CJ time to go OG wit it bro. Start doing vodka and see your problems go away. Posted a detailed link. Also if u have not start a fuge and add pods. Vodka will help stable things out. Pods will tear that crap up.

I disabled my scrubber and switched from hybrid to normal reef salt. That carbon dosing and export was bottoming out my nutrients which prob started this whole issue months ago. I add pods all the time they can’t handle this stuff… there are nuclear options I still can use but gonna wait it out long as possible and add bacteria (also manually removal) before doing so

Another quality and informative video. I know its not recommended, but I dosed bacter7 through my Neptune Dose. I had a pump head not being used so I programmed the Apex to shut off the skimmer and UV at 7 AM and dose the bacteria at 8 AM. The Apex turns the skimmer and UV back on at 10 AM. Thank you.

CJ tank is coming along. look in to good bacteria products like prodibio biodigest. I have bin using this on my main tank for a couple years and my new build will be dosed as well, hope this helps.

I did the exact same thing with the 5 gallon jug and push connector. Save that $ and an easy diy. I use an apex dos for my system.

I use the same type of container for my kalk setup. Works well. I use a Kamoer Pro to dose. Seems to be working well so far. I dose hourly during off light times and every 2 hours during light hours since those help with PH. I am in the basement with my 80gal AIO so kalk helps with my PH for sure.

Very nice video I had that algae before and I was able to get rid of it, every day I Siphon it with a hose and put it in my filter sock

Fish of hex sells adapters to your hose when you water change for the alge on the back wall and rocks

Razor worked well for my tank. It did kill all my shrimp though. After 14 days or so the algae just melted away and never came back. My tank was young at that time.

Another Nice way to dose kalk. I use a ecotech versa to dose kalk from 12:00am to 12:00 pm max 100 mls keeps my alk at 8.3 top off last longer. Good luck Happy reefing. Keep the videos coming.

Hey CJ, I run the same kalk setup as you. I also supplement with all for reef now that the corals are utilizing more. If you end up going the razor route, go slow and change your socks daily. I'd also recommend the marineland polishing filter. Take the filter it comes with out and just use floss. Unfortunately, I had a similar algae (couldn't confirm it was lyngbya) but it took a lot of manual cleaning on my part and carbon.

Tank looks great bro. I dose the same kalkwasser and I still have to add magnesium. But good move buying that doser cause you’ll probably need to add mag and all for reef.💯

Everything filmed edited and produced on my iPhone 13. Trying to find best light setting for recording because I’ve yet to show true colors in the tank video really is 70% accurate at best. Thanks for watching

Wow that dosing pump is a blast from the past. Its uses the same software well atleast the exact same UI as my old aquamedic doser from like 10 years ago.

I am nervous to try Kalk. I know its great, I just don't want to have any spike issues. Did you test how much the alk when up on the tank after dosing a certain amount? How did you get yours dialed in?

Yes took a week of daily testing and dosing to get a good baseline. I started really small like 10ml a hour and bumped it up 10ml everyday till all started leveling out.. never will get a spike with such small amounts starting off that’s the beauty of using a dosing pump 💪🏾

Hey CJ, had exactly the same thing you got going on right now in your tank. Dosed exactly what your dosing but also added a bunch of snails. My tank is a 135, I put in about 60 Snailes, within two weeks most of it was gone. Just some info for ya Brother.

Great vid question I’m thinking about using kalk in my new system and do you stir it when you mix only or do you stir it continuously because it will settle at the bottom after a day or so

Stir and let it settle. And reuse the same left over power as I refil it. Ph probe let’s me know when it’s time to refresh the power it last ALONG time properly sealed. 💪🏾💯

Telegram already has resulted from then AI blade and the orphek OR3. The AI blade are not putting out the spectrum they claim the Leds are overdrive. Great for color pop and you will get growth. The orphek OR3 spectrum is true Great growth and color pop and not over drive. As for par. Par is almost the same compared to over driven leds for the AI blade that my not last that long.

I'm more interested in CJs user experience. What differences he can see visually. These days any reef light can grow coral regardless of spectrum.

What about filter roller for your in tank filteration? also, i have heard housing copepods in a refugium help out A LOT with getting rid of that unnecessary bacterium like cyano.

I prefer a open system and never running mechanical unless it’s maintence. I’m just forced to atm to catch this stuff as it breaks loose. I’ve added almost 20 bottles of pods over last few months and do so monthly.. this is also why I prefer no mechanical so they can move freely from display to sump. I will work thru this thanks for watching 💪🏾💯

I had a similar algae problem with my 90 gallon tank, i dosed a full shot glass of 3% hydrogen peroxide daily until it disappeared. Hope this might help

I did the same thing and the first two doses cleared things up then it came back and wasn't affected by the peroxide. i found bacterial supplementation and feeding to help me the most. I also want to try an algae scrubber, as i think that could put a serious dent in the available nutrients for the algae in the display.

Are your nitrates & phosphates within parameters? I've found with my new tanks, those levels were below the range, but I never thought to check them because the tank was new and low bio-load. Once I began dosing Brightwells nitrate/phosphate supplements, I was able to get rid of what I was battling, which was cyano.

They have been since I stopped using hybrid salt and disabled my Alage scrubber.. my tank is overstocked keeping nutrients was only a issue when I had those two things going too soon

This is not true there are other things that will kill snails. Dino’s kill snails just as easy.
