While we're enjoying warmer weather in Quartzsite we're embarking upon one of the best upgrades you can make to your RV, installing a MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus 4500K from @AirxcelIncRVGroup. This is a remarkable unit that will fit any existing 14"x14" roof vent opening, featuring a 10-speed reversible fan capable of moving up to 900 cubic feet of air per minute. The transparent lid is motorized and includes a rain sensor that will automatically close the lid when it detects rainfall. Everything may be controlled by either buttons on the interior of the fan assembly, or from a multifunction infrared remote control with an informative LCD display. Join us as we install, test and review the MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus!

Ouch! That was painful to see. Glad it wasn’t too long of a tear and that the Dicor helped. Having one of those in your bathroom will be great for ventilation. Side note: The old WWII diesel submarines use to open the hatch up front when they ran the diesel engines, which were located at the back, while they ran on the surface. The engines would pull fresh air through the boat. Thanks Marc, Ram 👍🏼👍🏾

Loved the video. Reminds me of when I added an additional air-conditioner on our 32 ft Flagstaff bumper pull camper. Getting the vent off was the most challenging part of the installation. And not damaging the membrane was the hardest. I noticed the Buckees hat! We went to our first one in February on the way to Galveston. Couldn't get enough of their BBQ so we stopped 3 more times on our way back to Missouri! Thanks again for the great video as always! Stay warm in Salt Lake!

Thanks Michael! True, I couldn't see it happening from my angle, but I sure felt it when it let go. Fortunately most of that was beneath the fan housing when the new one was installed, so a little dab of Dicor and all was good to go.

One of the first things we did with our new rig purchased in 2921 was to replace that ridiculous little fan-vent in the bathroom with a similar product you have, except was a Fantastic Fan. We do have the MaxxAir in the kitchen-living area. That idea of doing a push-pull airflow works well to help naturally cool down the RV after having travelled all day in the heat. Also to get humidity out from the bathroom following a nice steamy shower. Well worth the investment!

Congrats on your new trailer, Jay! It's no easier or more difficult than you saw here. The worst part is removing that Dicor roof sealant from the old fan/vent housing. You just need to have a bit more patience than I possess.

I hope Maxx Air fixed those Marc. Our bedroom in our RV had Maxx Air fans with controls like that, and I had to finally just unplug it. The problem with them is the computer boards get condensation on them and sort out, then they turn on all by themselves and you can't shut them off unless you pull the fuse, or disconnect them. There is a fix for it on KZfaq if it does happen to you. We had our RV a little over a year before the bedroom fan started acting up and turning on by itself.

I replaced my vent with a MaxxAir MaxxFan and it works great. I went with the MaxxFax Deluxe because you can run that model during inclement weather without a big vent cover...it drops down automatically when turned off so it has a very low profile! BTW, looks like you cut your knuckle scrapping off the lap sealant...ouch!!

No doubt Mike, and I give major thanks to KZ for having the foresight to run wiring to that vent even though they didn't put anything powered in the space. If I didn't have that wire, I would have had to fish a wire from some existing 12-volt source.

Be careful if you have a large fan in the bathroom area. if you do, turn it off before flushing, or it will suck fumes from the toilet.

Hey Marc, did the heat gun help removing the dicor? Looks like you got into a groove at the end. I have wanted to replace my bathroom fan for years. I’m glad you used a crimp cap instead of those wego connectors, I hate those things. I’m not sure if we would need to modify our opening to make a new fan fit. I think the best think I would like is a stronger fan in the bathroom, if you know what I mean, haha. Great install and review. Larry
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure Жыл бұрын
Thanks Larry! It wasn't that cold, and I'm not sure that the hair dryer made much of a difference. It certainly would if it was colder. However, you are correct that I did sort of get a system towards the end of sliding it all the way underneath the Dicor and even the metal flange of the existing fan frame before turning the blade upwards. I do everything with crimp caps. The fan came with butt connectors in the box, but I'm partial to crimp caps that I have about 10,000 of in my spare parts bin. As for your fan opening, nearly all of them are a standard 14 inches by 14 inches, so I would put a 95% probability on it fitting for you without any modifications.

I would strongly recommend that you also install the MAXXAIR 00-933066 Original Vent Cover-White. This would allow you to run the fan while you have a heavy rain. Also, should something go wrong, like dead batteries, you are covered. Don
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure Жыл бұрын
Appreciate the recommendation, Don. I had actually installed one of those atop our vent on our former travel trailer. However, Mrs. GA didn't like the restriction on light it created. She still complains about it even though we haven't had that trailer for over 2 years. 😄

I have an old smart style vent fan from a different company, I wonder if you know whether or not all vent fans use the same size hole making replacement with one of these easy?
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure Жыл бұрын
Dave, nearly all RV roof vents (Heng's, Ventline, Dometic "Fan-tastic", etc.) use a 14"x14" roof opening. Just grab a tape measure to verify the size of your existing fan, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that it's 14x14. If that's true, it's plug and play -- just swap them for one another. Super easy.
