When Megear installs his DIY jig, he reinstalls the end cap. This is a critical step. The cylindrical axle is made of soft metal and will collapse or deform without the end cap installed. Also, if you do not have a DIY jig, you can use a 14 mm open end wrench and tighten the end cap onto the wrench jaws.

Yeah, just damaged my Zonda wheel few mins ago due to the soft material. Shame I haven’t watched this video before. Lesson learned.I hope my local workshop will be able to replace the damaged part. 😱

Because there are no 1:18 squares, I used a movable wrench to remove the axis, and the teeth were a bit slippery. Is there any way to solve it? Thank you.

この動画のすごいところは、USBにCompyグリスを取ってDura グリスを使っているところです。グリスは固くてもそこから滲み出るOilが摩擦部を潤滑してくれるのだから、これで正解です。morganグリスもわたしは愛用していますが。

Hi. Great video. What are you using as degreaser. Looks effective. Great application bottle. Did you make the tool / jig, for holding the flats on the aluminium hub yourself. Looks very accurate. Top work indeed.

I use WD40 for degreaser and yes I did the DIY tool by myself.

have you ever fully replaced the bearing kit, inner race etc?? how does the inner race be removed? it looks like it would break of you try to tap it out

I have older shamals with silver end caps. There is no squared off silver nut to allow use of a straight edged jig.

Yes you are right. The old one no need to use any special or DIY jig.

Is it good to put the wheel on the bike (with closed QR) before adjusting the preload and tightening the locking screw?

I would do it off the bike, the tension caused by a tight qr skewer may cause extra stress on the fine threads/soft aluminium. What is more important is that you recheck the bearing adjustment after a few hours riding. I've had lots of Fulcrum wheels, the hub bearings always seem to loosen off after a rebuild, if not adjusted the bearings & hub will suffer.

What kind of green grease to lube?

The green grease is Shimano premium grease and I use it for metal & ceremic ball bearing lubricatin

What grease do you recommend for steel and ceramic bearings?

He uses Shimano green for bearings, but you can use any bearings grease like Campa from Morgan Blue It just has to be very smooth and not sticky

1. I never try degreaser liquid before. 2. WD40 is frentely for many parts such as seal, rubber and all bicycle parts metals. but degreaser liquid not sure (depend on each brand) anyway if you decide to use it please be sure there is no any side effect to all that parts mentioned.
