All is forgiven if you skip this one -- boring tech stuff on getting my new boat (now named Alessia ;-) ) ready for a major passage: new NKE autopilot, new electrics, new radio and antenna, new rigging, etc.

Patrick, it wasn't boring at all. For those interested in extended cruising (especially solo) this is really hot stuff...Thank you. I also like your philosophy and words around being able to rewrite your ending....That really resonates with me as I'm not far off your age and I plan to have at least another 20 years of mucking about on sailboats....keep em coming big fella!

Good to see you out on the open water again, Patrick. I’m not a sailor at all, but I thoroughly enjoy your videos. The solitude of your journeys is very compelling for me. If ever we meet, we’re going to polish off a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. My treat. Rhône valley reds are where it’s at.

Patrick- so great to have you back! I was genuinely worried that something had beset you! Again- what a refreshing video. I'm never going to own a boat (in fact I've only sailed dinghies in my school days) but I have become fascinated by sailing videos and love to see how the various systems are used to ease the challenge of open water sailing. So nice and happy to see you, Patrick, you know I'm a tech man, so for me, the video was just fantastic. "Fast Lane" will require a lot of physical effort, which is great to keep you in good shape, also, it is "more connected to nature" (sorry my English), with so many things to tweak and trim to make it go fast (I remember my 19ft sailing school boat, the most sophisticated thing was a compass). With all due respect, now you became the old version of another lovely character, Hugo Picard, The sailing Frenchman, who is also dealing with that Mini full of dynnema lines. "I'll be sailing every day for the next two months..." that's one of the most enjoyable things that can happen to a guy like us. And who knows, maybe in the future we can see Alessa reaching A Coruña!!!. Thanks for the video and kind regards.

Nice video Patrick I was wondering what you've been up to since you got the new boat. I recommend you put a downhaul on the head of that hanked on jib so you can pull it down from the cockpit, if you do it with a back winded jib you'll keep it out of the water.
