Ep. 58 Hard work in our Chateau Garden and Fun at Fort Boyard!

This past week we took advantage of the cooler weather to get a lot of work done in our Chateau grounds, and then take some time off to take a boat tour around Fort Boyard and visit the beautiful islands of Aix and Ré, with their beautiful sandy beaches, Napoleanic Forts, and wonderful restaurants!

Jenny, the kitchen and courtyard look great. I always enjoy my garden more when it looks tidy, also. That was a lovely outing you all had. ❤

Hi Peter! Yes I do love weeding, I find it very satisfying. It was a lovely day out, and great to cool off by the coast now that the hot weather has arrived 🤗

Yes they worked really hard on that area. It’s be great when we can eventually relax in a pool after a hard days work, although to be honest the river is not far and is also perfect to cool down in. Or perhaps even we should build a sauna first to soothe our sore muscles!

I do like the idea of a 'hidden' swimmingpool. If I may suggest, please make sure that you research a saltwater pool systems. Chemicals are so passé for very good reasons. The engine 'room' could be 'hidden' in part of the barn. Perfection! Good luck.

The plant is an Acanthus and it does spread easily

I would have used the court yard to keep a couple of pigs Jenny they would clear it for you then you could eat them at the end of the year best pork you will ever eat trust me we used to keep pigs in England and we ate like lords every year and free at that the swimming pool will cost you a fortune to build then even more to maintain and keep just to jump in a few times a year ( yes i know bundle of fun am i but im very practical and food prices are only going to keep escalating 😆😆🤣🤣)

I don't know how good of a carpenter this guy is, but he's not so hot on planning given the number of times he has to remember and replace that panel. Not very efficient and time is money.

Hi Paul, given how wonky the original tile floor and stone walls are in this house, and how well that panel fits, I think you’d find he’s done an excellent job!
