@@Audiofatuation It's boring when comics go through the same points of saying that they don't need to do late night TV anymore, or sitcoms, or Comedy Central, or even Netflix, you just need a podcast and youtube etc. (meanwhile many of them try to get on TV and Netflix...) It's extremely frustrating when they complain about wokeness and the cancel mob while constantly dishing out disclaimers about how ashamed they are of being white and male, how much they love feminism and non-white people, and how they're not like those "crazy conspiracy people" or "right wing nuts." I'm no comic, obviously, but I'm a huge comedy fan AND a musician so i could relate to when Mark was asking about transitioning from joke writing to storytelling and having the jokes within them. How i can relate, as a musician/songwriter, is that joke writing is like knowing how to write hooks/choruses. Choruses are the best parts of a song generally, and people usually know them first. But, the verses and other stuff that comes before that allow the chorus to become bigger. It's a swell-up! Sometimes a song starts with a chorus, then goes into a verse, sometimes it starts with a quiet verse that then crescendoes to a big chorus. The best comics have mastery and balance both tools. Doesn't mean you can't be considered NOT a good songwriter if you are like Daft Punk and write a song like "Around the World" where it's all chorus. But there's just levels to it.
