#EP12 Abhijit Iyer-Mitra on the shifting sands of US-India relationship and answers your questions.
Use the hashtag #AskAbhijit to post your questions
#AbhijitIyerMitra #Ep11
---------------------Question and answers---------------------
00:00 Intro
00:41 Challenges that are in front of India in term of how to deal with US
05:23 Should India leave the englosphere and work on an economic and security group with countries like France, Japan, Vietnam, Korea?
07:22 A joint development surface to air missile (SAM) equivalent to S400 with enough technology transfer would have made a lot of sense, but why aren’t they forthcoming and instead threatening sanctions.
08:43 Current situation is a rude awakening that the incumbent US administration is not a reliable
09:04 Seeing how India is vulnerable due to Covid and the US support is minimal at best, is China likely to make a move on India's borders again?
09:39 Japan still hasn't amended Article 9. Wouldn't it affect it's defence capabilities against China,
12:19 Kerala says it has enough oxygen to supply other states. Is it true or another farce
16:31 The Scroll which stated that Arvind Kejriwal wasn't the one responsible for setting up the Oxygen plants but a central body. What do you think about this?
17:57 Given what's happened in Delhi & Mumbai with Covid, Is there any provision for Medical emergency? If yes, Should Modi do it
23:08 Abhijit u says Biden & US policy makers are compromised by China and u also says u don't believe in conspiracy theories about China infiltrating & affecting US policies. R u not contradicting yourself?
27:11 UP is much more affected than Delhi but, our CM is saying there is no shortage of beds in UP. In Kanpur one O2 cylinder is costing 1 lakh.
29:43 How long before we come up with our own enterprise cloud offering?
30:27 Is Abhijith planning to write books on Foreign policy, defense policy, Improving capacity of Indian state?
34:44 Opinion on China offering to Help India in pandemic control efforts? Are they being sincere or only trying to sell
36:23 Why are we buying oxygen from UAE and other European countries if we have enough oxygen in India
37:32 Do you think this second wave will be fatal to BJP's electoral prospects and has the fall of BJP started with this mistake of mismanaging the pandemic
38:46 He is working on a non-profiy youtube channel about historical battles in India that are not taught in history books, want to help indic narrative, would like some guidance once the videos are ready.
40:46 Watched your videos on LCA, your views on how good or bad is our carbon fibre quality compared to other countries? Should we continue with it in AMCA?
42:03 When people hate Modi then without reason they have hate RSS, pro-nationalist, right-wing etc. Why is there such patterned hate?
42:55 Abhijit do you consider yourself an occidentalist? Why?
43:37 Have you had beetroot sambhar?
44:40 Why is Abhijit Iyer Mitra so negative on India's growth?
46:47 Based on the German counsellor's comment do you see a shift in the way the Germans view India? Is this something that is permanent or temporary?
48:46 Who are calling the covid related decisions, is it the PMO, a task force, CMO, who are they?
47:07 Is Abhijit interested in taking up a post and working in Indian Govt like how Amish Tripathi now works as a director of Nehru Center in London? Why not?
51:50 Your tweet about the United States policy versus vis-a-vis India you said something to the effect that business to govt is okay, business to business is okay, govt to business is okay, govt to govt is not okay. Expand a little more on this.
54:52 Think-tanks ORF and Vivekananda Foundation, who is doing better research
57:34 Will a military administered govt work for India?
59:56 Will bringing Sputnik vaccine help or do we need to throw more resources at Covishield
1:01:23 With Saudi in our corner, would you say it's a foreign policy victory? If yes, what has worked in Saudi and UAE etc is still not working with the western world?
01:02:49 Could you suggest the top four books for each in Defence, India, Hinduism and World War II?
01:08:00 Has Modi done the right thing by not responding to Biden's statement

It's quite a natural human to feel tweeted when someone negates you in front of an audience. Abhijit on the other hand is blunt to the point of hurting. He is genuine. He is knowledgeable because he has worked hard to get his facts. Abhijit is Abhijit & Shriji is Shriji. Both make a good team and I the viewer, benefits by it. Please note we could be in a spirited arguement on 2% even when we are in agreement on the remaining 98%. So we pay attention to the message not just to the messenger.

Abhijeet appears to be pessimistic about India. But he takes pride to be an Indian. My only humble advice to him and young Indians to remember that India is a civilisational nation. You may be a realist. But the greatness of this complex nation is unparallel. The West has learnt many things from us without giving us credit where it is due. So at least minimise running down this great country publicly.

@chola377
@chola377 3 жыл бұрын
@@dparamful It doesn't make us happy but it makes them sad because they are being called out for their selfishness. After Indian journalists and politicians they are the most unreliable people a Indian can see in his life. They whine, moan whenever they come to India but dont contribute anything to its development except send money to their relatives that buy things in their name. Let me tell you how incompetent NRI are 1) In Alabama yoga has been banned in public schools since 1993 as in even basic meditation, as they think this would promote Hinduism, recently in 2021 the bill has been "reversed" but limited to poses and stretches but still extensively banned any sort of Hindi/Sanskrit words used during Yoga. Even the word Namaste has been banned because it some how promotes Hinduism and i didn't see a NRIs or NRI backed democrat objecting this which is a clear case of Hindu-phobia which is being openly run by Christian conservative side. And you know according to modern standards this can be called Cultural appropriation of India culture that USA left is so concerned about. 2) One professor openly promotes hate against Hindus, promotes Hindu-phobia, likens every Hindu to RSS workers, abuses Hindu Gods and promotes Aurangzeb as a patron of Hindus who built temples when actually he slaughtered thousands, converted many more (if you have doubt read how Sambhaji maharaj was killed and fed to dogs when he denied to change his religion). Now it is her commentary and she has right to write whatever cock and bull story she pleases but when the Indian students objected her phobia do you know what the Indian professors of same university did, they wrote a letter in her support and stated that any opposition to her work is a conspiracy by the Modi govt and its people, it is as if the Indians don't have any individual thinking capability and if we get angry it is only because Modi or some idiot told us. 3. An Indian student was made to resign ( deservedly so) for her student body position in Oxford University for her past anti LGBTQ and anti islam tweets. But when she made a complaint regarding her own racial and religious discrimination by a group of people and in particular a faculty member who attacked her religion and then went to post her family members photo and address encouraging others to bully her and her family members online, do you know what did the Asian student association did. They wrote an official letter stating that she was trying to divert attention and that it is being used by the Indian govt to portray the University in bad light, they did not even conduct any investigation then how did they have the courage come to that conclusion without proper proof when even a imaginary insult towards Blacks or Chinese can cause huge problems in educational sector professionally. And the great Oxford Asian student body totally forgot about the constant abuse the faculty has directed towards her and advised a simple sorry will be sufficient to absolve him of his crimes. They totally forgot about the way he tried to dox her and most of his tweets are misogynistic ( In multiple tweets he portrays many Indian women as prostitute of Modi govt and used even more vulgar language to send this message). Suddenly in west racism, misogynist behavior is ok because it is directed towards people who don't agree with them and our NRI as faithful dogs agree with them. These all incidents are happening in reputed educational institutions which should be hub of diversity and tolerance but here i find a total antagonism towards India and its culture and what did NRI did to stop this - NOTHING. These people should have seen this growth of hatred towards them but what did they do hinder this - NOTHING. All that NRIs do is earn money by shutting their mouths when made fun of or insulted in foreign countries but yell at people in India of "intolerance" and "close mindedness" because we don't like to be insulted in the name of free speech. NRI - Non Reliable Indian

Abhijit makes this mistake often he keeps referring to NRIs of the US and their voting in the US. it is false. NRI is non resident INdian, which means that the subject is still an Indian citizen. An NRI has NO voting rights normally in he foreign country. I am an OCI (overseas Citizen of India), because I am a foreign citizen I can vote in my resident country But I cant vote in India. So remember that only a small percentages of Indians "residing " in the US can actually vote there.

India has a lot of room for improvement but the question is not whether India is rising or not but rather the rate it is. To give an example: In the year 2000, Indian GDP was $468 billion while the U.S. was $10.25 Trillion, a ratio of about 22. In 2020, India's GDP is $2.8 Trillion while the U.S. is $20.93 Trillion, a ratio of about 7.4. The ratio of convergence is 3x over 20 years. The ratio will reach 1:1 sometime between 2040-2050. These timelines can be shortened greatly if the India government can get it's act together and grow GDP at 10% annually versus the 7% (which is the rate for these numbers)

@SRA89 Per Capita income is increased quite a bit as well. $5 Trillion is trivial, India has to be $50-$80 Trillion. Even a bare bones 1st world level $20,000 per capita would be put GDP at over $25 trillion. The government aims low and hence performs accordingly. China on the other hand is ambitious. The population by itself is less of a problem than the composition of it, the Islamic population is determined to demographically drown Hindus and are multiplying fast.

@MastiKaHathi
@MastiKaHathi 3 жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as better or worse when it comes to fighter aircraft market. It usually boils down to country's requirements and cost of entire fighter program along with how Airforce strategically use these assets in war time as well as peace time. So on paper specifications of one fighter aircraft might look better but that should not be the only criteria for purchasing or investing. Like we opted for Russian Mig 29 in 80s to counter Pak F16 even though our Airforce wanted to go for French Mirage 2000. It was a political decision rather than tech specific decision. Similarly, going for Rafales (in my opinion) is also a political decision but this time it actually fits better role as multi role. Pak criteria for JF17 is something completely different than our criteria for Tejas.

Sree comes across someone who doesn't seem to have an opinion of his own. He worships DJT & thinks he is as white as DJT voters and belongs with them. When his family and his kids are asked to go back to where they came from, he will go screaming for help to dem.

@@darthvader-cf5fm except that djt wanted to reform immigration and stop ILLEGAL migrants from crossing borders. Also the H1B has been abused for a long time by Indian IT companies and that has prevented good quality genuine swe's from getting citizenship. For world war 2 you can follow WW2 channel. They cover it week by week. Right now they are covering events of April 1942. They have already covered entire first world war week by week on their channel The Great War. For a scholarly coverage of second world war please follow a good KZfaq channel called TIK. I really like his battlestorm Stalingrad series. Of course Kings and Generals is great. If you are interested in Napoleonic wars please follow epic history tv.
