The Tanami Track is the life line for many living in north west Australia. High temperatures, fire, break downs. How do you survive in one of these most remote regions in the world. This video captures the unexpected in a 36 hours journey over 1100km.

Hi Peter, Steve here. My walk across the Tanami was definitely a memorable experience . What makes the travelling experience wonderful and memorable are those times with people stopping and caring about the welfare of others on the roadside. You certainly provided me with a great boost of encouragement that day because of the caring nature you display out on the roads as you travel. You do what you do well....just saying😊Big Thanks

Really enjoyed your vlog Peter, the commentary, music, scenery & the night photography was excellent. We were looking for the most recent decent video of the Tanami and found you.😀 We are really wanting accuracy on the fuel availability. We are getting differing stories. Anyway did you get fuel at Balgo or Yuendumu or do you know if they are open? Cheers & happy travels.

Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I did not fuel up in Balgo. I did get fuel at Yuendumu. The NT side of Tanami is much busier than WA side. A lot more mining. The WA side is much more remote. Carry loads of fuel and water, chances are you might be called on to help someone else on the track as I did. Great way to meet people. Good luck.

OMG! Yep that's some trip! Locals breaking down in their vehicles. Steve the 7 year walker who government officials believe has disappeared. Very interesting. Must have been a bit scary doing it on your own.

Great video mate. I’m planing Alice to Wolfe creek and return from Wolfe creek to alice. What’s your thought? how safe night camping at Tanami, tackling 4wd on coeducations, how much of fuel you did halls creek to tanami, can you cross tanami with one night stop?. again thanks for sharing a wonderful video cheers

Thanks for watching. Yes can cross the Tanami in 2 days (1 night camp). Of course, if something goes wrong, you need to prepare to stay extra nights. I carried enough fuel to give me a range of 1200km. I used around 2/3 of my fuel capacity. Extra fuel allows back tracking if something goes wrong. Hope that helps. Cheers Peter
