Love the content. I upgraded a couple of weeks back and it is so forgiving on low toe strikes. You fitted me and clearly learnt the low toe strike from my technique! 🤣 Really enjoyed the fitting by the way and will definitely be dropping by when I change up my bag.

Definitely worth upgrading and offloading your old G430. I am happy to take it off your hands for a heavily discounted price. It is a sacrifice that I am willing to make.

I had both at the same time. On a trip t Portugal the standard won out. Tried with standard shaft and a Riptide CB. Sold the 10k, now happy with the G430 max.

Good interesting review, just goes to show that it is not necessary to keep upgrading to the latest versions. I still use an old titleist ts driver which is still performing well.

Absolutely not, no. As long as what you've got fits you well and it's reasonably modern then it's generally hard to beat in fits.

I went for a driver fitting recently and was wanting the Ping 10k but was recommended to get the Ping sft with a 45 gram shaft.

Love the content, ive been fiddling with swing weight using calculator online and found im able to close the driver face with a lower swing weight Would be nice if you could compare these drivers with the g425

Swingweight is a huge part of getting the best performance out of your clubs, so that's great that you figured that out 🙌 maybe one day but done a bit of Ping content recently so will be looking at other stuff for a while. Plus I don't have any 425s and I don't want to buy one 😂

Awesome vid. It almost looks like slo motion when you swing at 90mph, lol. Swung both recently...10k is so big. Did prefer sound. And draw bias of 10k. Certainly both had more pop than my 410 lol.

I feel like I am swinging really fast when I swing at 90-ish mph. That's my typical playing speed. It's crazy and kind of embarrassing how easy he makes it look.

I was pissed off to buy a new G430 max the week before the 10k was announced. The golf shop said they had no idea it was coming. I won’t be upgrading for quite a while.

They probably did know, but good thing for you is I don't think it really matters too much. The 430 max is a great driver

My only small gripe with the 10k is that the head weight was huge on mine, 204g. Need to use a counter bal shaft for sure and can't go over 45". I wonder if I'll lose forgiveness if I reduce weight down to the typical 198g that I'm used to.

In my opinion i don't think you would lose any forgiveness

Forgiveness will still be top tier. You could also try a lighter shaft. I noticed some male pros are moving from 60g to 50g driver shafts.

Couple questions. You mentioned early in the video that if you gamed one of these that you’d use the 10.5 head, why would you go 10.5 instead of 9 with your speed and positive attack angle? Last question, I can purchase a 9° max or a 10.5° 10k, swing speed around 100/105 with a pretty neutral angle of attack…what do you recommend and what difference do you think I’d notice between the two? Thanks a lot, love the vids.

I'd go up in loft purely because the spin is a little bit too low for my liking. I'd rather see 23-2500 then when I get my slight turnover shots the spin doesn't drop really low and create a bigger miss. Tbh it's still hard to say as I'd need to know roughly what dynamic loft you deliver on a good swing and also general face to path would help but as a guess with that speed and neutral AOA I'd say go 10.5*. Realistically you wouldn't notice much between them as you see in this vid there isn't much between them in all honesty. It's far more important to get the right loft so personally I wouldn't be buying one as a guess.

Great review, I wonder how the Max (or the Lst (my gamer) would perform with the 28gram weight from the 10k used? Probably increase SW to a D6 but may be an interesting experiment.

Great review with a compellingly proper methodology. I’ve gamed PING drivers for the last 7 years and added the 430 Max to the bag last year (upgrade from 410). I’m a 9.2 HCP, my driver swing speed is 97 MPH, and I use a Swing Caddie SC4 to monitor launch conditions. For my swing speed and 10.5 degree head, 13-14 degrees launch angle with ~2,300 - 2,400 spin provides optimal carry of 240Y. I purchased the 430 Max 10K and compared it to my plain vanilla 430 Max over 3 weeks of range + 8 rounds of golf. Conclusion: much greater dispersion with 10K, 3 yard distance gain @ ~ 2,200 spin. Swing speed same, launch angle same, so I’m not switching. 10K head is now for sale on EBay. Subjectively, much prefer the regular 430 Max impact sound. Individual mileage will vary, and strongly suggest that all compare before switching, and of course test with the same shaft.

The head weight in my standard Max is 25 g albeit I play mine with 9 g But you said that one was 22 g have they changed them to make the difference bigger?

I’ve just changed my Titliest TSR3 for the ping 10k.. Ping has standard shaft and is definitely more forgiving

Given the weight, I assume it would be easier to get close to D3-D4 (my preferred weight) @ 44.5” or 44.75”? I like to play a shorter driver

Yes if you go a bit of a heavier shaft at 44.75 you won't be too far off at all with the stock head weight unless the shaft is super counter balanced

@@epgolfstudios thanks so much for the response. I’m currently in a Sim 2 Max 9deg with Ventus 6x Velocore. Numbers are almost ideal on good strikes, but I’m looking for something with more forgiveness. Was able to hit a 10K Max at a fitting day recently, and the flights and feel were fantastic. Unfortunately trackman was down at the time, so not sure about the numbers. That was a 10.5 head and Ventus Velo Red 6x TR. I’m leaning towards that exact combination but worried about swing weight if I go down to 44.5”. I know I could choke down, but for some reason that never feels great to me. Cheers, Mate

I upgraded from max to 10k, am now playing it at 44 inches seeing a lot more centre strikes and no loss of distance but have had to change the head weight to 34g and add 1 x 4g lead tape strip to get the swing weight back to D4ish. Do you think I am weighting the head up too much, I am getting myself a bit lost but don’t want to go back to standard length shaft as I struggled centre striking and and had I high right miss which I assumed was club face and my face control seems easier with the shorter shaft. Maybe time to seek professional help over my self diagnosis and fitting

Yes I would definitely say time to seek professional help or at least be in a setting where you can control and test variables to see what actually is best for you. But yes I definitely think you are weighing the head too much. The question is always why are you doing it. If it's just because you think the swingweight needs to be D4 just because that's a normal swingweight then don't worry about stuff like that. It's all about what works best for you. Play it at C6 if that's what gives you the best results. But yes the only way to tell is to test. But I'd definitely say stick with the shorter shaft. Maybe 44 is a bit extreme. If it feels too light then you could maybe try 44.5 or 45 as a good middle ground

Ok can you book me in, I think I want to keep the 10k head as a 13 handicap with 92 mph swing speed I don’t think I see the results you get at you low swing speed but I definitely need the forgiveness, I brought the club with the rdx red 50 5.5, I have tired and still have a alta cb 65s 3 wood shaft and cut down a evenflow 50r for the 44inch playing length. I have all the shafts still head weights 22,28 and 34 but am now lost with what is actually working and the top tracer at my range does not give me the finer detail. How do I book a session with you. Thanks for this. The 430Max currently $10 more than the TaylorMAde Sim2Max. If the fitter reeks both clubs, which should a 92 mph swinging mid-handicapper choose and why?

It will just come down to which club best suits your miss. If you miss right generally I'd edge towards the ping. If you miss left then I'd maybe edge to the SIM. But really it would come down to which one clicks best with you as the player and which one you feel more confident in.

Max feels more solid than earlier pings, akin to the Titleist drivers. Sound is better also.

Had a 430 for a month, span like a top, sold it for more than i paid. I tried the 10k version, still span it at 4300. Now play AiSmoke 9 turned down to 8 degree with stiff shaft, 2100 spin and 35 yards longer, great dispersion as its not left biased. Ping has the reputation of being forgiving, but i find the game cost is too much

I have a 10K 8.5 turned down to 7.5 and it is long and straight. I hit what felt like a very average drive today on a par 5, smoked everyone else. And I have short and weak little T-Rex arms.

Really wanted to love either of these drivers but they felt like a ton weight when swibging them, as someone who is over the top and down on it what driver should suit me? Also always feared more loft due to excess spin but what would you look at for me ?

You can get lighter heads weights for these to reduce head weight, or shorten the shaft which will also reduce swing weight. Loads of drivers could still work but TSR3 would be a good one, reasonably low spin but not as fade bias as some of the other lower spin drivers, also they do an 8* head so you can turn it up to close the face slightly but still keep loft relatively low, but if you are hitting down you might need to a bit more loft than that possibly, depends on what’s going on in the rest of the delivery. That would definitely be one I would try in the fitting, or if you’ve got a really bad consistent right miss then the 430 SFT is by far the best for straightening up the flight. But it’s quite a high spin head and they don’t do a 9* so it won’t be particularly long, but it’s easy to hit straight if you struggle with that right miss

I actually think me and Fordy did a great video a while ago about how to increase swing speed (Fordy swings a lot faster than me) I can't remember what it was called but would have been probably a couple of years ago now
