Agree....he’s very young but is actually good at presenting. Not a robot with no personality but also not a big personality wanting to take over the presentation thinking he’s more important than the product.

Great review! Many reviews are stating that the Roland FP 30 is way better instrument in a similar price range and they did not even mention this app in their reviews. In my opinion this puts this instrument in a class way beyond the the Roland. Its also a fantastic way to keep my kids inspired to play. This review has cemented my decision to go for the P125.

Roland have also their own mobile app. Can't say how good it is compared to Yamaha's, though.

Thanks for the very helpful review. I like the piano, but the app completely sold me on this model over the P45, as my favourite thing to do is learn the chords to various tunes and have a go at them in my own way.

Yep. Me too. I’m in the process of buying a DP for my daughter to start learning on (and I’ll start learning again)...I was dithering between the NP32 and P45 then saw the app...along with the extra quality and functionality, I decided to find the extra £££s and so look forward to playing with the app and playing along to my own favourite tunes! I’ve seen others, but yes...great review with bags of enthusiasm! Thanks 🙏

What you are doing seems to be quite self explanatory....PLEASE tell me how to get my P125 connected to my iPad to begin with...I had it working, but now all it does is say that there is no target instrument...I find no place where to input P125 on the iPad....can anyone please help? Thanks

Hello, you need a MIDI to Lightning Adaptor. These can be picked up on Amazon. Just use a regular printer USB cable on the Piano. USB A to USB B and connect it to your phone with the OTG adaptor that was included with your phone.

I own the P125B keyboard and I use this app . It’s a great app that works well ... only thing , is that you need to purchase an Apple lighting to USB camera adapter to connect to your iOS device which isn’t cheap ( about $45 AUS ! ) But it does make using the functions on the piano a little easier .

I bought one off Ebay and kept on getting "accessory not supported" messages on my iPhone after going thru the connection wizard to get it to connect. Did you buy an Apple branded lightning-USB connector?

Thanks for this demo of "Smart Pianist" Isaac. A surprisingly rich set of features on tap - without having to endure the overhead & learning curve of a full-fledged DAW. Since I'm currently shopping for a 61-key portable, I'm hoping you're able to say if the App will recognize and provide any functionality for Yamaha's PSR-E series keyboards... T.I.A.

No, the Smart Pianist app does not give you additional voices but allows you to control the ones already built into the instrument itself. Hope this helps - Isaac

Thanks for this tutorial. I’ve been using the P125 for about 3 years now and I recently downloaded the app. I noticed however that you’re not able to record left and hand tracks separately like you can physically on the P125 itself. Any insights into this? Thanks.

I want to record in MIDI format and it has the option to record up to 16 tracks but it will only let me add multi-tracks as an AUDIO :/ I don’t know how to utilize the 16 tracks in MIDI

Smart piano may be good for P125 but I tried it with a P515 I am trying out . The App does not address the chorus , delay , rotary etc effects that are available on the P515 . And as you can't use the buttons on the piano when the smart app is connected you just can't use them . Also , it maybe just my Galaxy S7 that is at fault but there is a noticeable lag when you click on a patch you saved so useless in a live setting . As on the P515 you can't save or recall patches on the piano itself that makes the P515 with or with out the smart App useless on stage - unless you only use piano . My P515 is going back under 30 days satisfied sale conditions .

I want to use this to replace my cheap 45 key usb midi keyboard, but the only prob is I wont have the pitch and mod wheel for the synths. Is there a workaround for this? Would much rather have the 88 weighted hammer action keys for playing the synths.

Looking forward to purchase a P 125. One final question (by the way, your video is AWESOME.!) Let's imagine this situation: 1. I record a song of mine in the keyboard 2. I save it to 'User Songs' 3. next, I want to add one more instrument. So... 4. I loaded it from the app, and while playing the song, I record on top of it (another track / layer ???) Can you explain that to me please? I am a beginner pianist and also a composer, so to have the ability to record 2 - 3 - 4 instruments in the same song is kind of essential to me. I have to say I'm most excited about the recording feature. I currently use an audio cable and audio adapter for my phone out of my headphones output (my keyboard is so old it doesn't have anything else lol) but it doesn't quite work as I'd like it too 😂 it still sounds better when I record it with my phone's microphone but then you can also hear the keys rip

Isaac: That was very informative. Still have a question or two that are unanswered. Maybe you can help. 1. Can you explain the little orange a@b button and what it does? 2. Is there a way to record ONLY your accompaniment to an iTunes song and not the song as well? 3. I have in excess of 25000 songs in my iTunes, and yet Smart Pianist only accesses a few thousand. All the rest are NOT READABLE or not even listed. Could you elaborate?

It won't connect to my iPad. Usb c to USB, us midi, p125, ipad pro 2018 downloaded the app. Connect via wizard. Won't recognize anything. I tested the cables and midi works with all other programs

I have a Yamaha YDP-144 piano, and the smart pianist app is installed on an android tablet. I cant set the display orientation to horizontal position. Only set to vertical or flipped vertical position. Where is the problem?

HOW do you pause songs having sheet music in this app?? It's SOOOO frustrating that it only has a stop button which when clicked takes everything back to the first bar. AAARRGHHHH!! Such a huge design flaw! Normal songs you can pause but ones with sheet music it doesn't let you!

In case anyone was stuck on exporting the recordings, make sure you select edit, select the song giving it a checkmark and THEN click on the export button at the top. Took me like an hour to figure that out -_-

I bought a Yamaha P125. I played on it a few times, and it was quite good. However, I am wondering if I should switch to Yamaha Arius YDP144. Any acoustic/hammer key action differences between the two digital pianos? It is for home use and practicing pop/classical and jas music, as I am not a professional. I used to play classical piano for 9 years (Yamaha U series) and I want to get back into it. Unfortunately due to the lockdown, the shops are closed and I cannot try the YDP144 out. I can see the keyboard action is the same in both digital pianos. Could I transport the YDP144 (38kgs) with my car easily if I move to another house? I could move out in 2-3 years and I would like to take the instrument with me. Any advice would be welcome.

What piano did you end choosing? Currently wondering If I should buy the p115 or p125... internally they are the exact same... only diffrence is the amount of standard songs,sounds as presets on the pianos. So was wondering if there is like a 3th party (app) that only supports the p125?

Yes, the music from the iphone/tablet will playback through the speakers of the instrument!

It does look like a good and useful app! I have two questions for you; is it possible to play percussion with the P125 with this app? One of the things I really enjoyed doing on old cheapish keyboards of mine was to play drums assigned to the keys of said keyboard. Can you do this on the P125, with or without the app? Also, do you know if the Smart Piano App would work with Android as well as iOS? Thank for the video, it was really great!

cool! Thanks for the demonstration. With the audio or midi recorder am I able to create tracks? I.E if I record a little melody and want to play some bass notes over it, am I able to do that? Or would I need to upload it to logic or something like that and listen to headphones and play a new track on the app over it?

Yahama P125, if I get the 'metal 3 pedal', can I use the standard metal collapsible stand or do I have to buy the wood console. the three peddles have two bars that go up, how portable is this... does it collapse to fit in the yahama piano bag. I don't want the wooden stand. So is it best to just get an additional peddle and forget about the 3 peddles

The only option to add additional pedals is to use the 3 pedal unit (LP1) with the wooden stand (L125). As they attach to eachother. You cannot attach the LP1 while using a cross frame collapsable stand. Hope that helps.
