I use to always say next year will be better and waited for it to be better, when really it was up to me to make it better, my mindset, my positivity, my decision to make it better, it's not just going to be better. Here's to 2022, positivity, opening my bible daily, connecting my relationship with god and my savior, getting rid of toxic things and people.

Thanks Sadie! The advice "assume the best out of your partner" has appeared several times in the last week. I really love that advice! It gives so much rest & peace. Definitely keeps me so much happier. Jeah, the advice 'don't take yourself too seriously, but take Jesus seriously' from the other podcast with Nicky & Pippa has also helped me a lot!

Looking for a bit of advice and maybe hope. I'm a semi non religious guy dating a kind of hard core Christian. Not a fanatic, or a religious lunatic but someone who genuinely loves god. I'm just wondering what are the odds of me and her working things out and making this relationship last life long. Little background. (I haven't touched on this topic in years) but long story short: life broke my faith. Used to be super into god as a child. Prayed every night and such. But too many bad experiences with people and surroundings just shattered it. My girl loves god. Me just a bit. We had a deep conversation last night about this. I told her "Hun. I love you. But you gotta be patient with me on this. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Just let me ease back into this whole thing at my own pace ok?" She got a little defensive which is to be expected. But in the end I think I got through. It's just that the whole Christian scare tactics like "if you don't accept Jesus into your life you're going to hell" see to me. That's a scare tactic to me, and that don't fly with my way of thinking. I was raised to believe if you're a good person in life you'll be rewarded in death. I just think bc of her parents raising her on this kind of stuff that it's heavily affected her perception on faith. I've encountered good Christians that think the same way I do. But that's a very small number. BTW I would never ask anyone to change their beliefs bc of me. All I'm asking is to just be more chill about it. Try not to just shove this stuff down my throat and let me ease into it. And that whole "god comes first" thing irks me. Why can't life, health and God be put on the same pedestal?? Thats pretty much telling me that God is my top priority not my family. Not my health. The way I took is that I should sacrifice my health and loved ones for the sake of god. To me that's wrong. Balance is the key to life and overall happiness. Achieve this, and life will be smooth sailing.

Hey, so yeah the whole thing of cursing another person and scaring them? That's not how a Christian should ever act. Jesus didn't say that to the tax collector or to the prostitute. He cared for them and was kind to them, so please don't feel scared or intimidated. We should all strive to make ourselves more loving! Now I will be a little blunt. As Christians, we are directly told by Paul to avoid marrying those that do not love Jesus with all their heart. Certainly many have changed in a relationship to focus on God...but you can't force a person's heart to change no matter how much you try. We can't put anything over God. Not even over own romantic relationships. If you treat her like a religious lunatic, you're going to push her away from God and she's going to be upset. Just like how you felt judged, please understand how she feels and talk to her with an open heart. Regarding your past relationships that betrayed you, the devil does like to do these things to scare us away from God. That is why we can't put our faith in other things over God. Recognize that God didn't betray you, people that claimed to be good Christians betrayed you. "Thats pretty much telling me that God is my top priority not my family. Not my health." Well....yes, however.... God wants you to focus on your family. God wants you to maintain your health. These are lines directly in the Bible. God wants the best for you, not to harm you or confuse you. There will be hardships in this life, but God has a plan for you. Remember the story of Job. He was tested for his faith in God. He lost literally everything. His family, health, friends, and so on. But he had faith in God and was given double of what he had previously. He was much richer, gained better friends, and a had loving family again. He also didn't put these restored earthly treasures over God. You will be provided for with God, but it does require patience and waiting on him. With myself, I'm a single lonely 23 year old Christian man who has never had a date before. There are feelings of incompetency and self-loathing that I'm working on correcting. But I know these are the works of the devil trying to dissuade me, as God sees me in my faults and finds value in me! He made every one of us as wonderful individuals with a plan and we need to work towards God's plan, and put our faith in him! "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+139%3A13-14&version=NIV My advice is to ease into it. People don't change over night. If this girl is important to you, please go to a Church where you don't feel judged. Preferably her Church if you can. It doesn't matter what you wear. Come how you are, you are welcome! Like Sadie said, assume the best of people. Don't be quick to think everyone is judging you. If anything, we want to welcome you. Those that enter the Church and don't know Jesus as their savior and best friend are the most important people in the Church to us! Just as Jesus said, if 1 sheep leaves the herd of 100, would the Shephard not go and leave the other 99 to find his lost sheep? www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+15%3A1-7&version=NKJV Also please start reading the Bible. Read from the beginning in Genesis, preferably 1 chapter a day. Talk about it with your girlfriend, she will be muuuuch more invested in you if she sees you are trying to serve her by doing so. Yes it can seem intimidating at times, but you don't have to become perfect or near perfect over night. We are all broken inside and full of sin; we all are healed by Jesus and it can be a long journey to fix our faults. Also for how to live as a Christian couple, I'd recommend the book "The Meaning of Marriage" by Timothy Keller. He uses scripture to define how we should act in a relationship and marriage. To serve each other with only their happiness in mind, not a reward. To think "it's about us, not just me." To repent and accept each other when we hurt each other. That we have to give love, not just accept it. If she makes you upset, love on her and forgive her! Too many relationships die because we fight over trivial matters. If both sides gets upset and continues fighting, you're going on a spiral of suffering that is breaking the relationship. Remember, how much we love someone depends on what we think, not what they have done to us. It may not seem logical...until you see how a mother loves her unruly child. Same concept. That in a relationship we should put God first, her second, and EVERYTHING ELSE later. That if we focus on our hobbies, family, children, or anything else over her, it will cause the relationship to crack and shatter. I'll pray for you man. I pray that you find a relationship in Jesus and that you can have a happy relationship to your girlfriend! Take care.
