More details got revealed in the newest article on PlayStation blog and other interviews: - 100 hours of gameplay - You will "control sephiroth in the same part as the original game" - Not all party members will be playable until part 3, but those that you can not control will be companion characters like Red XIII was in part 1. (This problaly hints that Cid will be a guest character like Red was in Remake) - No save data transfer, but you get Leviathan for Remake and Ramuh for Intermission episode save data

Cid is the man in the black cloak in Junon. He's there to steal the Highwind while everyone is distracted by the parade.🤯

Aerith being killed by Sephiroth needs to happen. They can do some magic stuff later to save her or something but that scene needs to be there.

I was 12 when I played FFVII and I didn't like that Aeris died. I was sad and kept thinking "maybe she'll come back?" and I was annoyed that my party member was gone. That bothered me for the rest of the game thinking she might come back and never did. That was probably my least favorite moment of VII, so I'll be interested to see what SE do with that story element in the remake.

This is one way Aerith could survive and also give us a happier ending for both Zack and Cloud. Due to the way the original timeline has been altered, and fate has been changed, some key moments will be different. Aerith could survive this time around, due to Cloud having glimpses of the previous fate which had been altered, knowledge of the original timeline could allow Cloud to circumvent her death during those 7 seconds alluded to in Sephiroth's warning at the end of Remake. Those 7 seconds mentioned in Remake are the same 7 seconds it took for Sephiroth to kill Aerith. It would make sense for the trilogy to be called, Remake, Rebirth & Reunion. - Remake: Fate being destroyed and time fractured into split timelines. - Rebirth: Regaining lost memories, dead characters brought back from alternative timelines - Reunion: Previously dead and alive characters are now reunited in one merged timeline With fate being destroyed in Remake, Zack has now survived but is lost in an alternative timeline, where events played out differently, different characters died and lived, with only a few similar things remaining the same. Reunion could have multiple meanings in FF7 now, it could mean the reunion of characters that were once dead, it could mean the reunion of multiple timelines merging at one big canon event such as when finding where Sephiroth's real body is being kept in the cave after he fell into the lifestream. Zack is dead in one universe and alive in another, but Cloud could be alive in both, and Aerith could be alive in both which gives her this foresight. Sephiroth is most certainly alive in both timelines although presumed dead, and frozen in the north cave after falling into lifestream ending up in the same place in both timelines. Other characters who might have died like Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie could be either dead or alive in another timeline depending on how fate left things off for them in Remake. The visions of Sephiroth that we are seeing could be coming from both versions of Sephiroth trapped in the cave from both timelines. To wake one would wake the other and, so doing would merge the timelines. So Reunion can happen. I have a feeling somehow the timelines will merge, with Sephiroth and Jenova both resurrected and more powerful than before, Zack will come back to life from another timeline, whilst anyone that died in both timelines stays dead, but if they are alive in one of them they will come back to life, but any characters that are alive in both timelines either merge into one being, with the same memories or there are now two of them which would be a bit too crazy. The multiple forms of Sephiroth we see during the game could be from both versions of him from two different timelines... making him a stronger enemy than before. Zack and Cloud both fighting a more powerful Sephiroth together would be cool combined with the story still playing out very similarly but with resurrected characters. Meteor is still coming only now they can stop it together. Cloud's feelings and love for Aerith were merely a copy of Zack's feelings due to having Zack's memories mixed into his own, but once Cloud has regained his memories, he now knows about his true past and remembers how he felt about Tifa. Cloud could potentially realize his feelings and love for Tifa were being suppressed by his confused copied feelings from Zack for Aerith. Cloud remembers he wanted to protect Tifa after the way she almost died as a kid, and those feelings were still there just locked away due to Zack's memories. Tifa was his first love and she was the reason Cloud signed up to become a Soldier to begin with. With both Zack and Cloud alive now and having reclaimed lost memories and feelings, they are now both able to have a happier ending, as they are both able to rekindle their love for Tifa and Aerith respectively.

I can see them changing Aerith's death because the themes of the remakes are different from the original game, Aerith surviving could fit this new story better.

Gotta happen, gang. You can see it in her eyes the entire first game. It is her destiny.

I’m in the Aerith should survive camp. I’ve always had the impression the original ending of FF7 was actually a bad ending. When you see Red Xlll running to the cliff with his kids, it’s clear to me humanity has been wiped out. I think with the death of Aerith, it actually dooms humanity to a slow extinction, as the planet still believes that humans are a scourge. I can’t help but think there’s a larger threat going on that we don’t know about, that comes to light with Aerith surviving. As gamers, I hear so many times I wish I could replay for my favourite game again not knowing what will happen. This is the closest we’ll get to that feeling. We know these characters and this story, but something is different. Personally, I’m all for the change. I do get fully understand the perspective of people wanting it to stay the same. I just think it’s more exciting not knowing what will happen next to these characters we’ve come to love over the years.

I hope she doesnt die I know she will but I hope she doesnt. It would open a door for new possibilities.

I hope Aerith does go. I want the game to remain true to the original. A huge reason why 7 is so beloved is because of her sacrifice. It's a huge memory milestone. People might hate it, but it is something that isn't forgotten and I think that's important.

They have to kill her off. She can't just be replaced by someone else's death either. Her death was important for a reason not just for story, but for gameplay. I think Zack will still be dead because that is an alternate timeline. Honestly it feels like they are adding Final Fantasy 8 elements into FF7 who knows maybe part 3 will have Ultimecia as a secret boss.

@FuzzfingerGaming (Spoiler warning for newcomers of FFVII Remake, Rebirth and whatever part 3 will be called) Well, Remake already changed the story drastically at the end, hinting that the rest of the story will be different. Hence why it says "The Unknown Journey Will Continue". So don't be surprised if Aerith survives at the end. The same reason Zack is alive this time (or when the citizens from Remake survived from the plate falling on Midgar). Even though Zack is from a different timeline, my guess is that he'll appear in the other timeline to change Aerith's fate somehow.

End of disk 2? Makes sense. Edit. Yes it should end the same but they can grow this moment if they want it doesn't have to be the exact same.

i dont think they should change Aerith death scene but boy am i worried if they can pull it off as well this time with it being the expected outcome and more worried that they may change it an it be completely underwhelming i for one remember the shock of the death the unexpected sudden loss of a partymember was insane impactful at the time and with it now expected worried for square to do it justice

Just saying that they did say the places you visit won’t be in the same order but he did mention the Reunion and there are clips of the rocky looking Northern Crater area. It might just be a flashback/future memory of the other universe where they meet up there though.

Would be interesting if Tifa dies instead of Aerith on some Steins Gate-ish. Because there are multiple timelines Aerith dying helped at the end of FF7 original but it did not eradicate Sephiroth from the lifestrean

My thought on the subject. Aerith will die after a better between Cloud Zac and Sephiroth. The battle starts when Cloud blocks the killing blow. He has a flashback to the old time line. Zack is about to die by Sephiroth sword and Aerith stands in from of him saving the love of her life. The rest of the scene plays out with Holy dropping out of her hair but it is Zack that lays her to rest. 😭😭😭

I'm not upset about arith death, I'm more frightened on how sephiroth comes down with no glove and stabs her and he's got gloves on.

Wow I knew it that was my suspicion before FF7 remake was first released however it was such a small chance so I didn't think much of it. After that and the Rebirth trailer I thought it was possible especially when it just showed the world enemies and Elainor. This isn't very far into the game at all it would of made more sense to show the chocobos, more Yuffie, Vincent, Cait Sith, Golden sorcer or Correl. Sure it showed up until Cosmo Canyon but nothing further until that point and where was Vincent? Why has it been like 2 months and has only showed the locations enemies and very minimal story besides Kalm? I know gaming development is hard and takes time don't get me wrong. I found it to be quite unrevealing when it came to content compared to other trailers just Kalm, enemies, Eleanor and world, Cosmo Canyon, chocobo farm that's all? Now my suspicions has now been confirmed they ended it at the forgotten city. I knew this was going to end there at some point because of that moment but will this mean it will pace itself too quickly or more releases like Remake and Rebirth? Someone will mod a few things without saying too much spoilers unless square pulled something up officially.

I have a theory on how this game will play out thematically…. At least this is how I would do this. I believe Zack’s survival is in an alternate reality. One that is slowly merging into the main one. Sephiroth has a line in the trailer about the Reunion being where the worlds come together. Also Aerith has partial, but not full, knowledge of the future via the lifestream and also makes statements about changing fate. I suspect that we’ll be seeing Zack’s story play out as he realizes that in order to stop Sephiroth, he needs to restore fate, while simultaneously Aerith is realizing that in order to stop Meteor, her sacrifice is necessary for her prayer to reach the Planet. This will result in a climax where Aerith will sacrifice herself as in the OG while Zack is simultaneously completing his objective which results in his ceasing to exist and which restores his death in the timeline.

I think sephiroth will aim to kill tifa then arith will jump in front of the blade and still end up dying in the end that way she can still ruin sephiroth' s plan

Imagine if this time around, Aerith intends to die as before but Sephiroth refuses to/keeps her alive for his plan to come to fruition. And it leads to Aerith begging cloud or zack to kill her to stop him. I think that would be heart wrenching

Aerith will probably die, but not by sephy directly. Sephy in this version of FF7 knows why he lost last time, and one of the big reasons is because by killing Aerith, she only got stronger and was able to block the meteor. So Id wager he’d being to kill Tifa, as Tifa set clouds mind straight, and basically led to his defeat. Then Aerith would step in to take the blow. Idk where zack comes in though, from what I can tell he’s in a completely different timeline.

I don't believe they should change her death. I do wonder if the scene will change the rating from a T to an M (Mature). I remember in Tales of Berseria they changed the opening because of an impalement scene.

My gripe is summons. I don't like how you have to do some digital shit. I should be able to find materia and use them to my liking like the og. I would say maybe give bosses a stat boost like they do for sephiroth if you use kotr against jenova at the end fight

I am absolutely not ready to re-live Aerith's death in the detail of modern gaming graphics 🥲. I do think her death will remain permanent, the game needs to have that shock value and not fall into the trap of just reviving every character, we need that emotional connection!
