I just added my name to the waitlist. I can’t wait! I had no idea so many people loved and are obsessed with this show as I am. And the fact that as a kid, I played with a multi-colored cassette tape, and my friend’s grandfather’s cigar holder and pretended to be “Al” with my friend who pretended to be “Sam,” this is a full-circle moment.

@@SPProps❤agreed saw this show on nbc in the summer of 1990 until I was 9 in 1993 in 1990 they showed the first season and season 2 In the summer of 90 and kept watching until it was cancelled my friends were fans too😊

Finally received mine a few days ago. It is just wonderful. I've wanted this thing for nearly 30 YEARS! Also pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it feels. The acrylic is heavier than I thought. And it looks just as beautiful without the lights on, especially when it is in areas with different lighting. I have been carrying this thing with me all over the house since I got it 👍. Oh, mine is # 93. I think of it as representing 1993 which was the last year QL was on the air.

@@SPProps I know the person who developed the electronics from a QL message board I was a member of. He is eventually going to make both versions of the "calculator" handlink. Two different ones from Season 2 & 3, as well as working out the wrist link from the episode "The Leap Back"! I'm buying it all!

@@SPProps I know I will. As a kid, I played Quantum Leap with my friend and I would be Al. I had this multi-colored, clear cassette tape that I used as the handlink and my friends grandfather's cigar holder. So THIS will be a full circle moment. Thanks for your video!!

Definitely buying this. The cost is right around what I would have expected. But I can see the craftsmanship and the sound effects are an amazing touch. I loved the show and the handlink so much as a kid my father, uncle and I made one out of a cheap pocket pinball machine toy with LEDs and a battery pack from Radio Shack.

Am rewatching the series and wondered if they ever made a toy version, guess they didn't, sadly. Pretty cool but what do you do with it?

I don’t recall a toy version being made. A lot of fans resorted to making replicas themselves, like out of Lego or some other material. As for “what do you do with it” I’m a prop collector, so it largely is a display piece. But I will periodically play with it or share it with fellow fans.

If you slam the right side of the handlink does it make that angry/thinking sound? Like when you try to get a vending machine to work after you put your money in and nothing comes out so you slap it. Al used to do this a lot.

@@SPProps anyway, I think this is too rich for my blood. But the Earth: Final Conflict prop was basically like a smartphone, since the show kind of takes place around now, but was made in the late-90s. It had this cool roll out feature, so the device closed up, when not using the screen.

Love it! Only thing I could "complain" about (just being picky) is that the "moaning" sound from when the device got stuck or Al hit it with his palm is missing, but overall...Amazing!

Yep, you are very much correct on that. I don't know how much you did paid for your prized piece, but I know the person who owns and operates replica props does charge quite a bit of money just for something like that,...and I know I'll need to take the time and effort I require in order to build up a good, large chunk of revenue just to pay and achieve that. Let's just say living in Canada is a high, financial challenge.

I'm SOOOO jealous as Quantum Leap is my favourite TV time travel show. Time travel is the only TV Sci-Fi I like but I don't like DR Who( sorry Dr Who fans ) I'd love to purchase an Al's hand link but as I live in Northern Ireland it would probably cost me a fortune as the postage would be expensive. Maybe it's just me but doesn't some of the handlink's sound effects sound like R2D2 out of Star Wars?

I think there are some definite similarities between the handlink sounds and R2, but also being a Star Wars fan, I’m fairly certain they are different. And I wouldn’t count yourself out yet! You should contact Replica Props and see what they can do for shipping.

If so I HIGHLY recommend that you go and see the Back To The Future Musical when it comes to your part of the world. I know that you could be in for a long wait because of the current Covid-19 pandemic but BELIEVE me it will be WELL worth the wait as it is BRILLIANT. When I was 13, I made my own handlink out of cardboard, glow in the dark stickers and fluorescent cardboard and made the noises myself!!! 😄😄😄 I would love him to make a version of the two different handlinks that Zoe and Thames used!! I will have to save up a lot more money!! Thank you for such a great video! (A hologram's life for me!) 😄😄😄

hey fella the pendulum/handlink didn't just tell Al who Sam was embodying and what year it was and what he was there to correct Al's handlink told them who's body Sam leaped into the name of the person their age the persons birthday what city and state he leaped into and what year he leaped into what his mission is and why he's there and what he's there to do. and if it's relevant and sam if sam needs to khow it which i believe he does Al's handlink can also tell them the name's of Sam's host relatives and family members.

Wouldn't it be the 4th handlink? The first one was a simple piece of plastic with graphics on it in the pilot episode. Or does it not count.

Yes, I count that one. There's the handlink from the pilot episode, the calculator-style, and then the gummy bear.

@@SPProps on the show there were only three different versions of the handlink version one was used in seasons one and two and version two was used in seasons three four and five. the third version version three of the handlink/comm device was never used in the show. the guy in the video is wrong the pendulum/handlink in the video is version two the gummi bear from seasons three four and five. if people are going to do a video on youtube about sci fi shows at least get the information right and accurate sheesh.

Respectfully disagree. I’ve to come learn there were actually four versions of the handlink used on the show: Static prop seen in the pilot - version 1 Early “calculator” style as seen in seasons 1 and 2 - version 2 Later “calculator” style as seen in seasons 2-3 - version 3 And the gummy bear - version 4

I think they both have their charm. The calculator-style handlink was more functional, but the gummy bear definitely fit better in the futuristic vision they had set.
