Future Ian leaped back in time, into Dottie, to talk to Ben to tell him to save Addison by leaping himself instead of letting Addison be the leaper sometime in the future. In the first episode, Ian said they were still several years away from human testing.

@Fin Fog It is more than possible. It is exactly what happened. If future Ian was evil, why would he Leap back in time to save Addison? He wouldn't. He would have just let her die.

If you can travel to the past, the future has already happened. Let's say you have a time machine. You hop in and turn it on, shooting yourself back to 1985 in the blink of an eye. You know you're from the future. You have an observer feeding you information from your present time. Now think about somebody on the other side of the planet. THAT person has no idea there's a time traveler from the future wandering around. From their perspective, "the future hasn't happened yet". But it HAS, they just don't know about it yet. Now, if you can say that about 1985, what's stopping you from saying that about 2023? There could be somebody from 38 years in the future walking around right now and we'd have no idea! So in any universe where time travel to the past is possible, the future must have already happened. Also, for what it's worth, it's implied (if not stated outright) that the evil leapers from the original series came from Sam's future, so it's not like there isn't any precedent...

Holy cow this show is terrible. Kind of embarrassing it's called Quantum Leap and no wonder Scott Bakula didn't.want to do this train wreck.

this Quantum Leap isn't a remake ,but its a sequel to Scott Backula's Quantum Leap as take place in the same world just 20 to 30 years after Sam Beckett last see leap ,,

@@cold10er A remake updates the original piece and sticks to the same tropes. A revival brings back the old, possibly updating it somewhat for modern times (think "Roseanne"). A sequel continues the story of the original. A reboot keeps some of the same elements but otherwise disregards prior continuity. The new Quantum Leap is a reboot. There are a number of continuity-breaking differences between this and the original series. Leaps are no longer restricted to the leaper's lifetime. There's no waiting room where the leapee goes during a leap. There are no more restrictions on other observers in the imaging chamber. The leapee's experience in the new show directly contradicts what we were told in the original. This is Quantum Leap in name only. That doesn't mean it's BAD. A decent writer could come in and fix the problems with the show in a couple of episodes. The episode that this clip came from felt pretty "Quantum Leap"-y, for instance. It's just a show with a similar premise that isn't as skillfully executed.

@@StewartDean How are any of these things continuity-breaking? Time has passed, technology has moved on. Where does it say they haven't been able to update the system to travel outside of the leaper's lifetime? Where does it say the new project team had to create a waiting room in their installation? Where does it say they can't update the imaging chamber?

There are moments when I really want this show to go as long as the original. This is just becoming off The scales always have to introduce someone that’s woke. They really had an opportunity here, it might go another season, but probably into its third it’ll be canceled.

@@MrWoodard91 I've watched the the original hundreds of times and it was nothing like this garbage. Every episode is woke stuff that most people are not interested in but you can go ahead and enjoy it.

I started watching it up until the end of October, I was hoping it was going to be much better but not surprised that they had to introduce all of the cultural boxes that need to be checked. I hear it’s on for a second season, I’ll stick with the original, at least they had a better vision

When they started simping hard for transvestites I stopped watching. Shame. The show had potential. The show is more like going to some kind of church instead of entertainment. I don't watch TV to be preached to.

@@somapersona It's not the "wokeness" that makes it bad. I rewatched the "gays in the military" episode right after the trans kid episode, and it was just SO much better than the modern take. There was conflict between Sam and Al (which, to be fair, was resolved way too quickly), but instead of everybody coming around because of the power of the homosexual "Mary Sue", the bad guy got his comeuppance *but that didn't change his mind or his attitude*. I think the term you're looking for is "preaching to the choir". The trans kid episode won't change anyone's mind about biological boys competing in women's sports. It was written for people who are predisposed to hold the opinions it presented. In the old series, the angry mom wouldn't have suddenly come around at the end of the episode and the fact that the trans kid scored the winning basket would have only made things worse, not better. If the trans kid passed the ball to the angry mom's daughter and SHE scored the game-winning points, they could have presented a more nuanced view of the topic. They could have had an episode-ending "Quantum Leap" style recap where Addison explains that the dad lost his job at that school but was hired by a private school with a more "inclusive" attitude on the other side of town, where the trans kid went on to be a solid supporting member of the new team. As it stands, this episode was like a trans kid's Quantum Leap fan fiction... And I think that might be the difference between the two shows. In the original, Sam fought for his leapees to get a seat at the table. In the new show, the writers insist that they be placed at the HEAD of the table.
