Does the peg have also a function as the root, or it only hides the pod under the soil? On very hard soils, could the pod grow just after it penetrates a mulch layer, without going into soil?

I must admit that I knew very little about how peanuts grew until I heard that president carter got elected but my favourite peanuts is good old salted peanuts, but funnily enough it's an absolute bugger trying to eat them now on account of me not having any teeth.myoldest granddaughter said to put them in the coffee grinder so I did but me being the simpleton that I am I forgot to secure the lid, bits of peanuts went all over the kitchen.my cat about shit a brick and as punishment I had to from ceiling to floor clean said kitchen , my only question is is for the companies that salt and dry roast peanuts. Why don't you make baggies part crushed peanuts for other people like me because I'd buy a shedload of them

He was likely born a slave but since his birth was in the mid 1860's he would have no knowledge of it. After being rescued from kidnappers he was raised by his previous "master" as his own child. Mr. Carver raised him and his wife Carver's "mother" taught him to read and write and both encouraged him to continue higher education. Which he did and became a professor. Also he did not invent peanut butter as is often reported. He non the less did a great deal in promoting peanuts and researched development of peanuts.
