This episode of Combat Approved is a world-class exclusive: for the first time the Russian defense complex is presenting to the general public the newest wheeled armored platform Boomerang, the platform of which has already been used to make the K-16 armored personnel carrier and the K-17 infantry fighting vehicle. Despite the fact that the external appearance of the Boomerang has already been known for two years, its internal structure, its running capabilities, its protection and defense system have remained a secret behind the seven seals until now. in my opinion, every apc, ifv, tank, etc, should be equipped with a small petrol-powered drone, used primarily for forward recon. optionally, the drone could also carry a machine gun and be able to drop 1 or 2 grenades.

A small tactical drone launched from these new IFVs or new Tanks CAN NOT operate an MG nor an Assault Rifle , that's ruining their main purpose of being small maneuverable and light and the advantages of having a gun on them do not bring any pos to the unit only cons , like weight , size and battery lifetime

The bumberang internal spacing is compromised in order to have thicker side armour with adaptive thermal camouflage system. This bumberang can digitally camouflage from optical sensors. But not in human eyes context. And the Russian C4I system differs from NATO. Hence, they had to censored the combat management system installed inside to keep the actual appearance secret.

It's interesting, Russians just told in news this week, they are planing to build a wheeled tank on the Boomerang platform. Not so useful for Russia and Russian conditions, but will be very useful for the export, for Africa and Asia countries, at first!

@@pashapasovski5860 the Patria AMV has the same seat concept that isn't attached to the floor of the vehicle and the lower part folds up automatically with no issue. It also has a small footrest that hangs off of the seat so your feet aren't in contact with the floor as well

This is a copy of systems used in all occidental countries... Piranha, Patria AMV, Boxer, VBCI, Pandur II... Or Japanese, Korean, Singaporean, Chinese, Taiwanese vehicles... This proves nothing. Plus this prototype is old, and nothing is coming into service. Russia has shown a lot of propaganda weapons... T-14, T-15, Kurganets, Bumerang, all "wonder weapons", and none is entering service, none is being produced. Russia has mostly legacy weapons from the Soviet Union. Why? Because the Soviet Union assembled technologies from all its republics. But an independent Russia is much less capable than the Soviet Union was. And same for the other republics. The Soviet Union had a quite all around set of engineering and scientific skills. Plus financially, just look at the drop of the budget of the Russian military compared to the USSR military... The budget is meaningless at a world scale. Russia's power now is limited to its nuclear capabilities. But other than that, the Russian military and Russian technologies are nothing compared to advanced nations...

I won't change BTR-82A design for this. This was constructed in west for fight against terrorist's in suburban areas. Probably also in west will change in something similar as BTR now, after found out that the real frontline clash is still possible. This back door ramp is so slow. and if few Bulets hit it, it could stuck Further Modernization of BTR would be much better solution then this.

I think numbers are fluctuating. From geolocators they seem to be in the north not in a combat intensive environment but it's still combat the South and Eastern front of Ukraine are mainly armed by the thousands and thousands of bmp 3 or bmp 2 cheap protection for small arms crap but the new IFV Boomerang has been proven to be better at slugging off drones and adv crew protection from mines and explosives 4.4/5 as good as any IFV's out there

I hope they talk to the soldiers using controls for feedback. At 13:28 on one of the control handles, there are three buttons in a row. The first two from the left are of "seesaw" type for Zoom and for selection of ammunition type. The last one is a hat switch for aiming. So, every time you aim and need to use the zoom, you have to release the aiming button and to move your thumb the furthest possible distance. Why not a zoom button in the trigger position so you can aim and zoom at the same time with two fingers? Or at least have buttons closer to each other?

@@da_duccchannel , yes, since the Russian motorized infantry tactics has changed from the time of USSR, when the BTR has been designed. Moreover, the BTR is too light by armor and armour against modern NATO infantry vehicles. But the newest modernized BTRs will still be in use for about 10 years. They are not so good by the modern requirements, but Russia has thousands of them. Why they should send them to scrap, if they, the armor and engines, are still useful in many battle cases and tactical situations?

11:35 not sure that's really a smart idea. 8x8 with a tank gun is not a bad idea, but putting a heavy turret atop this chasis will make it very top heavy. The best 8x8 with a tank gun have a dedicated chasis that does not waste room and height on an unused troop/cargo compartment.

I'm just saying that many have tried to put a 105mm gun in a turret on 8x8 chasis like that, like on Patria AMV 105 prototypes and it hadn't caught on, probably for good reason. (the less said about tge stryker mgs tge better) The only successful vehicle of that type is the italian Centauro and it has a low profile, dedicated chasis. 8x8 vehicles are tall enough as is. Imagine placing the turret from the Sprut-SD for example on this Boomerang chasis. It'd be absurdly tall, which would mess with the balance and center of gravity of the vehicle, make handling recoil more troublesome and as a light skinned vehicle, it needs to rely on concealment a lot more. That said, a unit that is based on the boomerang having a 100mm or 125mm gun on a vehicle in its native structure would gain a lot of tactical and strategic capability. It just has to be done right. A variant with a 57mm canon for close in anti-air and ground targets where the 30mm isn't quite enough would also serve well.

@@MatoVuc 125 mm is insane but not entirely impossible. The Centauro is basically the Italian take on the Rooikat, but with a 105 instead of the 76 mm gun.

@@julianpetkov8320 the french aml-245 90mm may have been a more direct inspiration to the Centauro than the roikat. The 125mm is really the only one that makes sense. The sprut-sd canon already exists on an 18 ton chasis, so it can be placed on a wheeled chasis of similiar weight without recoil problems. Don't think the russians want to ressurect the 100mm for something like this.

The wheeled tank is basically a response to ISIS using pick up trucks with ZU22s. The Russians developed a new brigade to develop the same tactics and vehicles and evolve them. As soon as I heard wheeled tank, I knew that this is where it will go, because wheeled can deal better with ME environments than tracks. Just ask the French with their Panhards in Africa,
