In this episode, I give my take on critique, or constructive criticism. Giving and taking. How to Give, What to Take Away. You know...my opinion on the matter. Receiving CC can be so infuriating, but maybe this will help.

Been onboard with you 19 straight weeks 👏👏👏 well done you. Keep it up, always interesting and very much how it is in the world of photography. The problem is hindsight, its very easy to critic a photo after its done, you can spend ages looking pixel peeping etc. You don't have that option whe n taking the original photo's, there is nearly always a time frame to work with, unlike looking at it afterwards. So its usually best to not say anything. 🤷 just my view fid what its worth..

I agree on your view with critiques. I started off with creating video's for youtube in a totally different genre. I would get feedback/critiques even without asking. Sometime they were a bit abrasive. At first, the abrasive comments really ticked me off but over time, I learned to read into what the point was that they were trying to convey. Over time, it made me better. However, I have received feedback that was critically harsh, opinionated, and very self center of the individual. These comments I float past. It took me a fair amount of time to grow professionally in that realm. When it comes to critiques that are verbally abusive or has fowl language, I deleted them from my content. Now that I am on this photography journey, I am well prepared from a professional point of view. Thanks for bringing this topic to your followers. We all need to be ready for the harshness that social media can bring and for those who do not create content, to be a little more mindful of how they present themselves so that no damage is made. Never know, a photographer who isnt all that great today may become one of the best anyone has ever seen.

So true!! I’m barely in a lil under 2 yrs in photography and part of a few FB groups that I’ve been discouraged to posting any of my work because I see how others just tear down anyone’s work! I saw it with a newborn photographer and it was so sad they took down their work 😢 this could be detrimental to some newbies

Very very true! I think as photogs we need thick skin. But sometimes those knives can go deeper!

I never ask for critique because nobody is going to be harder on my work than me. It's dangerous to ask a "group" for a critique because everyone likes something different. As an example there is a local photographer here, I absolutely HATE the way she edits, but she does it her way and I do it my way. Neither is right or wrong

I haven’t watched all 19 episodes but have you done a podcast yet on how to handle photographer location permits, like places that won’t let you take pics at the mall, state park etc or that ask for a fee.

I haven’t. What is your question though?

Hey Jason, do you ever use cto gels to adjust your flash temperature to match the ambient temperature? I can't remember if I've ever heard you talk about that.

Never. And thank you!!!

@@J.Allen_Photography So do you just keep your camera at the temperature of the flash?

My Opinion if your client likes your photo work and paid you for your photography , and put a 20x30 photo in her living room that is reward as a photographer , anyone opinion doesn't matter . .....
