Hi all!
For Episode 239 Andy and Tom invited Daryl Easlea who edited the special edition of Record Collector Magazine first published in the UK in December and arriving Stateside in January.
Daryl is a lifelong collector on all things Beatles, Solo and McCartney and has been in the industry for the past 25 years. He assembled a great team of writers for this issue. There is a submission for every studio album, sections on live, classical, and Firemen albums. Retrospective essays, and one of the most thorough (UK) discographies we've ever seen.
If you didn't snap this up, get it here! or 'Do It Now' as the man sings!

Got this magazine just after Christmas along with the Mojo Collectors Specials series of other major artists from my local WH Smith's in Doncaster South Yorkshire, all of them brilliantly written by people like yourself Daryl......I've been collecting Record Collector magazine right from the beginning when it was just a wrap around to the re issue of number 41 Beatles Monthly in September 1979.......Best wishes to you Tom and Andy as well as you Daryl........Keep on truckin' 🍷🍷👍👌

Brilliant, lively, and thoroughly entertaining podcast, gentlemen. I *finally* went to B&N yesterday in search of this magazine, and they no longer have it. Coincidentally, I got home this evening, and your podcast popped up, and I knew I had to watch! And then get online and order my copy! As soon as Daryl said he was a fan of BTTE, I was on it! Thanks, guys!

Yes, I think you all love him a bit more than us these days (which wasn't always the case esp in the 70s I think)

Everyday I'm thankful that you guys do this show. You are fab Paul educators and experts. Winter Rose/ Love Awake was #68 when I ranked my 101 fav Paul songs. It's truly one of his most underrated ballads. It's soulful and it's lovely. I tried singing it karaoke at the fest and it was harder to sing than I expected. The fact that The Beatles constantly had 1 albums and singles really ruined Paul's ability to enjoy success because this album was Top ten and so was Wildlife so he should be prouder of both of them. I was reluctant to listen to Back To The Egg because I hate punk but in typical Paul fashion it has variety. Arrow Through Me deserved to be a big hit.

This was a really good one, thanks. Personally I'd say if there's another Wings album with strong parallels with Band On The Run, it's London Town. They went away to make it; it's broadly Paul, Denny, and Linda; it opens with a longer, multi-part song (check out that guitar, erm, duet); and isn't Morse Moose the closest thing to 1985 in the Wings catalogue? By the by, I'd love to see Paul revisit both London Town and Back To The Egg and replace some of the synths with proper orchestration for special editions. The former in particular would benefit from a full remix, and while they're in there they might as well do the job properly. (That said, I like the synths on With A Little Luck.)

I get so annoyed when people who want to identify as 'arty' or 'rock gods’ slag of 'We All Stand Together' and film for the obvious reason it was not made for them. It was meant to be and remains a children's song but for millions one with so much charm and character is appeals across all ages for those possessing some child-like qualities in their heart. This was beautifully executed and the film in 1984, the year of its release won a UK BAFTA (British Academy Award) for Best Animated Short Film. For punk rockers and heavy metal dudes to demonise a fantastic children's song is a sad reflection on those who have no understanding of the importance of well crafted variety of genre. For those whoever, including punk and heavy rockers, who loved the song alongside the masses good for you for putting art/music for children before image veneer and what I call Rolling Stone BS or the Jann Wenner factor. I loved this magazine. It is better than many books. What a lovely gentleman Daryl is too. I am one of those rare Macca fans who also love his classical work so I appreciate he gave it such attention. Love in the Open Air, Junk (inst) and Celebration - three stunning pieces of clasical-movie theme melodicism.
