Woman Warrior is THAT girl when it comes to memoirs. Maxine Hong Kingston did such a phenomenal job interweaving real life trauma with mythology and family folklore. I reread her memoir every few years just to re-experience Kingston's words.

I finished One Hundred Years of Solitude earlier this year, and the characters' names wore. me. out! 😭I'm hoping the adapted Netflix movie/series will make more sense than the book did. But, it was a chop for me.

First of all thank you so much for that!! 🩵 I have only read Lady Lazarus (blew my mind) I do plan on reading her journals and eventually her poetry (I’m not a huge poetry person but I’m trying to be lol). Gabriel is such an amazing writer, but One Hundred Years of Solitude takes some real work to read in my opinion. I’m contemplating reading one his short stories to adjust my palette for his larger works. 😭

Hi I used to be an English Major. I’m thinking of switching my major back to English. If you don’t mind me asking, what would you like to do with your English degree? I’d like to go into teaching English literature, specifically at a community college.

Hi!!! I’m planning on teaching as well. I’m seriously considering teaching elementary or high school until I get my masters because the ultimate goal is to be a professor. You should definitely switch back if it’s what you truly love doing! 🩵
