People saying Jules shouldn't have told Rue's mom about the drugs??? If anything one of the few mature and responsible decisions Jules has made this season is telling Rue's mom about the drugs because fully knowing how it would affect her relationship she still chose to put Rue's well-being/sobriety first. Maybe that's some of the guilt from having cheated plus genuine love and concern

@@teashlee521 what you’re saying definitely makes sense and comes from a place with good intentions, but 9 times out of 10 that just doesn’t work, because you will be met with resistance and whoever you’re talking to might do everything they can to prevent you from doing that. even worse, they may end up hurting themselves further before you get the chance to tell their parents. jules definitely did the right thing telling rue’s mom right away. the parents are the best chance at getting real help. i had a very similar experience to jules where i had a friend intending to commit suicide one day, but i immediately contacted their parents to relieve the situation. we haven’t talked in years, but they’re still alive, and god knows what would have happened if no one contacted whoever was closest to them at the time to stop them.

I think the thing with Sam Levinson as a writer is that when he writes things that are within his realm of experience (Addiction, Mental illness, etc.) he can capture them so beautifully, but when he writes things he himself doesn't know or understand it becomes a little bit muddled and confused like what we've seen of Kat s2, Mckay and Rue's status as POC hardly being touched upon, and Mckay's character as a whole. I think like many others he needs more voices in the writing room just to help give a different perspective on things he doesn't know. I think a great example of this would be Jules' episode from the special where Hunter worked with Sam and the two of them created one of the best discussions of transitioning, trans identity, and gender presentation I've ever seen on television.

McKay's character as a whole really cannot be touched upon because it has one fatal flaw: McKay is in college. The rest of the show is set in high school, and having a college student more associated with high schoolers would provide a pretty off-putting experience. They are parallels of each other and once Cassie and McKay broke off, what could you really do for his character? Especially now that Cassie has her own arc with Nate.

If I remember correctly, she said in her special episode, she had to get out or she felt like she was going to die. Spoilers for ep 5 n 6// I do wonder if the reason Euphoria focused on Cassie's story this season was similar to Rue bringing it up on the stairs. As the narrator, she's trying to distract the audience from her drug use and the way it impacts her family. In ep 6 she decides not to focus on Jules bc she's upset with her so her unreliable narrator qualities are starting to become more apparent.

Exactly!! I see people literally attacking Jules and Cassie/slut shaming them but not acknowledging the fact that they were manipulated by Nate and Elliot. Nate saw Cassie in a vulnerable emotional state in s2e1 and immediately mentally manipulated Cassie. He kept telling her everything she wanted to hear, even when she said she wanted to stop hooking up in ep2 or 3. Elliot did the same by hearing Jules insecurities w/ her relationship with Rue and said everything she wanted the hear + letting Jules flush Laurie’s drugs HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS.

@@kiranicole7445 i think cassie is getting so much hate bc she wasn’t always this terrible, like she was a favorite n ppl expected better from her n so the hate is worse. whereas we’ve known nate is a terrible terrible person. however i do feel like nate should get more bad attention from of this, bc it takes two to tango. but like i said before, since its expected of him to be awful, cassie gets all the attention. and yes Elliott is definitely a manipulative POS and i hope rue & jules realize that and drop him. he’s just as bad as jules rn. they’re all in a very sticky situation

I think after that talk with Maddy she realized that even though he was a good person, he wasn’t what she fully wanted (she said she felt miserable) I think she went with this crazy tactic (the one where she tries to manipulate and gaslight him) because she thought that he would have believed her like the principal did. In her mind it would make her look like less of a shitty person. Honestly I liked her character but I wish she would have just been honest with him about what she wanted that way they could have ended on good terms..
@AriaLouisa

In that scene she kind of had a lot at stake so I feel like it was not as bad to gaslight the principal tbh. And she had character growth after that so it just sucks that we're going backwards. Clearly they wannna write Kat out of the show.

jules has a validation addiction almost as bad as rues, her mom was a drug addict that chose drugs over her. in the special she said that she sees her mom in rue and i think that’s probably why she became more invested in rue despite rue not being her type at all. rue would give her the validation her mom didn’t , even resist drugs at a PARTY jules brought her to, plus she knows rue loves her unconditionally. when rue stopped doing those things she went to the next addict who gave her that validation, plus elliots a guy that’s actively appealing to her habit of seeking male validation. she also went straight to rues mom instead of coming to rue privately beforehand and im not meaning to say she made the wrong choice but i believe it was a spiteful one as during the intervention after Rue asks why she did it jules says “You lied to me.” point blank. not saying she doesn’t care about rue or deserved the verbal beatdown but her motives and actions behind her relationship with rue are extremely questionable and definitely not selfless.

Everytime Rue and her mom fights and we see Gia I start crying. I relate so much to being the sibling who feels they have to keep it together, because of what’s going on with you sibling. Seeing her tell people she’s fine, trying to stop the fights and having the other sibling apologizing afterwards, it’s everything I went through. I did have to skip a bit/mute some scenes because it was too much for me, but I do like seeing how it affects Rue’s family.

I want a Gia episode too but would it just be what we’ve seen through both seasons? but in Gia’s perspective? We can probably see how she felt during her dad’s funeral, the months Rue was away in rehab only for her to not change, what Gia did at the carnival & what she does daily.

I don't think Jules is a bad character but not being a bad character doesn't mean you're a good person either. Rue was justified for what she said. Jules loves people who only love her and want her. She's also (in this season at least) VERY contradicting, yelling at Rue for drinking when she STOLE alcohol and gave it to her. Not to mention she was the one to cheat on Rue with Elliot. I'm not saying Elliot is 100% in the clear. He knew Rue still did drugs and preyed on the insecurities of both Rue and Jules. (This has nothing to do with Hunter and Dominic cause for the material Sam Levinson gave them, they did deliver.)
