Jim Fadiman is an author, an educator, and is America's leading expert on the science of microdosing. During our conversation, Jim talks about his relationship with his favorite Harvard professor, Richard Alpert (later Ram Dass), his first psychedelic experience, and why he decided to dedicate so much of his career to the study of psychedelics and microdosing.
Jim also discusses The Fadiman Protocol for microdosing, what microdosing is and proper dosing and frequency of use, microdosing's potential for human well-being, creativity, and to combat mental illness, and how a healthy society might wisely integrate such practices into its civilization.
Jim believes that our culture is growing more open to the potential promise of psychedelics, and I think he's right. Documentaries like Netflix's "How to Change Your Mind" and books like his, "The Psychedelic Explorer's Guide," offer knowledge that has been suppressed and demonized to be more accurately detailed and publicly available.

Microdosing does have a beneficial effect! Brings out focus, has made me more open and comfortable within myself. FYI Psilocybin! 0.200mg every third day…. Do your due diligence and research it ! I’m off all Anti-depressions medications and I’m connected and aware, thoughtful and without anxiety! It’s not a tripping scenario . Keep a diary before then while your macrodosing!

At 24 minutes, you mentioned the movements that started with people who had psychedelic experience. I'll add one more: the entire personal computer and personal software movement. This was already the 70's, but the impact of psychedelic experience was pretty comprehensive.

Dan Riley is an _excellent_ interviewer. He clearly does his research, as evidenced by his intelligent, thoughtful, and provocative questions. And he never interrupts, which is highly unusual and absolutely appreciated. He kept the focus on Jim Fadiman, so that his listeners could reap the full benefit of his education and wisdom.

I am so glad to watch this interview. I am a transpersonal psychology student in Brazil and to know about his studies, described by Fadiman himself, is an honor.

Being in nature also means you are exposed to full spectrum sunlight, including near-infrared wavelengths, which has profound benefits as described here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7-Gksx80-Cogps.html In addition, plants such as trees and grass reflect lots of the near-infrared onto your body, so being in a natural setting can provide even more benefit than just being outdoors say in a city.

So I've spent some time around people in their 80s, and see a big difference between them and Fadiman mentally. He shows no indication of dementia or memory issues. Wonder if the psychedelics have anything to do with his mental longevity.
