Several years ago, I was tasked with creating narrative tracks for training presentations at work. I watched this video and some of your basic Audacity tutorials. The simple tips of noise reduction, your filter curve, compression and normalization settings, have made my voice editing so easy, quick and effective. I've had numerous comments on the improvement of the narrations over previous trainings that were made, prior to my work. I don't think I ever thanked you, so I re-found this video and wanted to leave you some positive feedback. Thank you very much for your videos. They have been super helpful for my role in our training narrations.

I was just trying to learn some basic EQ and this was phenomenally taught. I learned a lot about the things I'm adjusting as opposed to just being told what good settings are.

I created an EQ that slightly boosts my base with a roll-off while decreasing my treble 3db because I have a gap between my two top front teeth that creates very strong sibilants. I couldn't figure this out until I re-watched your tutorial and yay, it works. Thanks you very much. I'm on my way to publishing my first audio files and this was great, thank you very much.

Thank you! I'm really new to this, and was trying to get some audio (sung) recordings to sound right. This made a WORLD of difference and solved a lot of the "blow out" and static problems I was getting. Further, the way you explained what your were doing and why allowed me to trouble shoot a few other things and invent my own adjustments to resolve them. Fantastic work!

just wanted to let you know, your explanation and method of EQ'ing making those adjustments from the bass boost and treble boost preset is spot on for the very reasons you gave. These guys that take a preset and think it is going to apply to their set up AND to everyone's set up is so misleading to new comers to audio editing. Thank you for setting the record straight. Good job.

MasterJosh, greetings from the UK. This tutorial is 100% useful - i did exactly the same mistake you are talking about with cranking up the Bass Boost and Tremble Boost, but then I sounded like... Darth Vader on weed!! So I began the whole "cleansing process" from the start, and here I followed your instructions and.... Bumm Shaka! The phrase "the day I found my voice" has a new meaning now. :) In fact, I named the Preset "TheJoshOne". How's that for a legacy? :) I hope you know, your effect on the world of "audio recording" is quite something. The truth is, you are helping people to become competent in creating soundtracks, one step at a time. God Bless You dude. I'll send all my pals to your channel.

Hey, this a great, simple bag of informational gold. I hope you are not ever going to delete this. I have many, many years of home recording and EQing experience doing music, but I'm new to VO. Sir, how t make a very noisy audio clip sound much better? I mean, there are different types of noises. Cycle bells, microphone noise, echo, coughing, etc.

Omg thank you so much for explaining this so easily, I’ve been trying to figure out how to get rid of that raspy/robotic sound and all I needed was some filter curve instead of trying to find equaliser 😂

Very useful videos indeed and many thanks. Audacity can do so much. I have paid for audio DAW software but I still prefer Audacity as it has most everything I need, is simpler to use and I always get great results.

This is GOLD. Thanks a million! My audio sounds noticeably better. Now the multimillion dollar question is what can I do to fix audio which I applied the old "factory setting" bass and treble to? Is there an easy way to reverse the damage before applying the correct filter curve settings that the guru has taught us to use?? Please someone telll me there is......

You could try the opposite eq. Bass/treble drop instead of boost.

Great advice. Thanks for keeping it very net, as it gives me a great jumping off point and baseline. Super good of you to remove the complexity on both EQ and Compression. I think with decent equipment for spoken voice this is just what many of us need.
