I love Eric Idle. As funny and as wonderful as the Python team are, Eric has always been the funniest for me. And his songs literally puts me in tears, of laughter. I thiink he's one of the most naturally funny people I've ever seen. What an amazing guy. It's unbelievably bad luck that he and Elvis didn't ever work together. Idle wrote a funny movie about a Beatles-type group. Imagine if he'd written something like this but with Elvis.

Sweden does not have a konstitution but instead what is called foundation laws (which are equally hard to change). There are seven. One is the equivalent of 'freedom of speech'. It has been a founding law in Sweden since before USA was even founded. Dated 1766, I think it is actually the oldest in the world still in use (with minor amendments over the years as the original is only about printed text). The original is still available at the Swedish Royal Library. I did not write this as a critic of Mr Erc Idle, just for information purpose. Nobyody can expect him to keep track of the laws of a small country like Sweden. It is however partly the reason Life or Brian was not banned in Sweden as it was in Norway which he mentioned.

I would say he could be forgiven for being 'off' while on stage interviewing one of the geniuses of comedy timing....let alone one of your heroes and influences. I'm sure that's why. Although, being from the UK where he's no pt so well known, it's the first time I've seen Bob so I have nothing to compare with. All I know is, my demeanour would be challenged if I was interviewing a Beatle.

apparently he's used to playing the fool for laughs. In the Netherlands we only got the funniest home videos Bob, and later Full House, so I only know him as cringey presenter of dumb ass videos and loveable push-over daddy Tanner. I'm aware that he did some racy stuff as well, but the majority of his wellknown work doesn't reflect that. His interview style isn't terrible, but it certainly doesnt live up to the intro Idle gave him as some bad-ass comedy-rebel. In the end though, this video is about Idle, not about Saget.

Free speech is regulated in the Constitution of Sweden. In 1766 it was the first country to introduce a constitutional law where censorship was abolished and the freedom of the press guaranteed. Idle's comments and indeed your own, are mostly exagerated whining about the system. Nothing wrong with that, but if an American hears that, he's gonna think the UK is a police state compared to the US. The UK still has freedom of speech. Compare that stuff to China, where some parts of the internet aren't even available to watch these videos and comment on them. Any country where you can openly bitch and moan about the government without being dragged from your bed the next day and never be seen again, is sufficiently free in my view. It's all very relative.
