Eric Show was an enigma. He was an accomplished musician, devout Christian, and an avid reader of political philosophy. His extreme intelligence was largely misunderstood within the sports world. He didn't exactly help his case by aligning himself with a controversial alt-right society during the Padres 1984 World Series run. He was also known for sitting down during Pete Rose's 4192nd hit ceremony. Toward the end of his playing days, he would struggle with an amphetamine addiction that would warp into intense hallucinations, landing him in rehab. He'd eventually lose the fight with his demons.

Excellent video! I like your style. I know it's a different subject, but Show had similar trauma like Marvin Gaye. Immensely talented professionals who had abusive fathers and longsuffering, God fearing mothers. Both had a fear of the LORD, were drug addicts, undependable, unpredictable, having a fear of failure, were talented musicians, and had strikingly beautiful women who left them. They could never get over the abuse from their childhood, I remember in Marvin Gaye's book, he told his mom, "I wish father would just throw his arms around me and told me he loved me.". And then, this excerpt from the exceptional ESPN article by Tom Friend: "I think he did make peace with his dad," Cara Mia says. "But when I asked him about that, Eric still looked sad. He probably wanted his dad to grab him around the shoulders and hug him and say, 'Eric, I'm so sorry I hurt you and abused you growing up. But I want you to know I love you and please forgive me for how I've hurt you.' He probably wanted some acceptance from his father. Because that's why Eric was always running. Running from the hurt. Running right to the amphetamines." The big difference is that Marvin provoked his father to shoot and kill him to get him out of his drug fueled paranoia; Eric didn't have a chance but died anyway heartbroken over his father, who never had a chance to reconcile because he was out of his mind. I believe many of these athletes and entertainers are heavily under mind control, and ritual abuse is what makes them famous...and what kills them.

The 84 Padres had no chance against the mighty 84 Tigers. Who were one of the best clubs in MLB history.
@jjerg

The Padres shouldn't have been in the series but the NL took a home game from the Cubs and moved it to San Diego since the Cubs didn't play night games in 84. It was the 1st of many major disappointments for this Cub fan.
@jjerg
@jjerg Жыл бұрын
@@travismcdonald6576 you are absolutely correct. I was 13 in 84 and an over the top Cub fan. During this time there were stories every day about 'what would MLB do' if the Cubs made the series. TV networks were lobbying the Chicago city council to put in temp lights or move their home games to Comisky or Milwaukee County stadium. They even tried to start the NLCS later, I think to have the day games on the weekend. So the 'conspiracy' to keep the Cubs out of the series began. After the Cubs went up 2-0, the talk really ramped up. The commissioner claimed he was neutral on the subject while he continued to try to deal with the city. As we all know, the Padres won 3 in a row and put another disappointment in the Cubbie fans basket. That's when the Chicago media and some players, Rick Sutcliffe was the one I remember, began saying the distraction about the home games was part of the reason. Over the years, this turned into this myth that I held in my heart for years. To this day you'll hear Cub fans whine about this at the bar or backyard. I no longer will be one of them. Being a Cub supporter we sometimes need excuses for our lovable losers but I never want to be misinformed. Thanks for compelling me to look this up. 🤘🏼 www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2018/10/22/18004472/cubs-1984-nlcs-home-date-rick-sutcliffe

The pitch to Dawson was inside, but it wasn’t that high. Dawson dove down into the ball when he hit. Heck, Pujols hit a homer on a ball not much lower than that. Show’s immediate reaction when the ball hit Dawson was one of horror. That would be unusual if he was throwing at Dawson. The idea that it was racially motivated also makes little sense. At that point he had faced hundreds if not thousands of black players at the plate. Had already faced several that day. Why would he randomly decide at that moment to unleash his racial animus? Also, pitchers who throw at guys don’t tend to write apology notes.

This was a noble effort but also naive. If you don't understand what's going on with unchecked immigration and the incessant cry of systemic racism, you're not paying attention. Cultural Marxism is alive and well and it's invaded our institutions, including sports. Show was trying to work things out. He was a man of faith and a pursuer of truth. It's not a straight road out of samsara. BTW, you forgot to mention that Show's musical inspiration was Django Rheinhardt, a Parisian gypsy cafe guitarist who's finger picking style revolutionized guitar playing. Show saw the dark clouds of institutional forces on the horizon. They're here now. In two years he'll be approaching a prophetic status.
