WHY IS THIS CHANNEL SO UNDERRATED??? THIS IS A GOLD MINE OF KNOWLEDGE!!! The fact that most of your videos have only 2-4k views is just insane! These are the best tutorials i've seen on sound design PERIOD. You are the Drawabox of music! The way you teach by explaining the fundamentals in detail using exercises, it makes me feel like a novice magician finally understanding the logic behind these things. AND OH MY GOD the ways you create just anything you can imagine using this free tool is astonishing! I hope you get the recognition you deserve some day... And I am buying those presets the first chance I get!

Never watched a clear and short fm tutorial with a usable sound that you get at the end. Thanks for that!

Yamaha's 80's synths actually used phase modulation instead of frequency modulation.

I'm a fan of your vids. This one's heavy though, and will take some time to process.
@EricBowman Жыл бұрын
That's understandable. It's a lot of info, and relies a lot on the info from previous videos-especially the stuff about the harmonic series from part 2.

Does playing with velocity affect distortion in Vital then? The harder I press the more harmonics are added.
@EricBowman Жыл бұрын
If velocity track is turned up, and you're using distortion on the "effects" page, then yes. Velocity tracking is the knob that says "vel trk" next to the voices and blend in the bottom middle.

Hi! Vital is wonderful and with infinite potential, at least it seems to me. Is it possible to create a realistic acoustic piano sound? Thank you

Hey Eric, I learned so much in your Videos. Could you please make a video, how to create a sound of a didgeridoo in vital? ✌️👍
@EricBowman Жыл бұрын
There's actually a pretty good didgeridoo wavetable in the free version of Vital under factory/physical. I would set a fast random LFO to modulate the wavetable position slightly and then also modulate the wavetable position 100% with the mod wheel so you play with the overtones like a didgeridoo player does. I hope that helps!

Is distortion (how you describe it here) similar to wave folding in traditional west coast synths?
@EricBowman Жыл бұрын
I believe wavefolding is a type of distortion where, rather than clipping a peak, it's "folded in" as if that peak's phase was flipped. If you draw in the wavetable editor the first and 3rd harmonics at even amplitudes, that will look like a wave-folded sine wave, whereas the 2nd keyframe of the basic shapes looks like a soft-clipped sine wave.

It could be nice if you smile sometimes to prove you can make it 😅but you are sooooo excused because you make the most consistent content on this topic in the whole YT game ! Thank you so much !

What're the chances you offer private lessons? after binging your channel the entire day at work i realised that although my sound design skills/knowledge is adequate, i have so much (and i mean S O M U C H) to improve on. I am aware that alot of it is simply experince and trial and error but i would love it if i could get some guidance from you.
@EricBowman Жыл бұрын
I'm glad you're enjoying the content. I used to give lessons but I decided that there's nothing I can give in a lesson that I don't explain better in my videos. It's also hard to gauge what somebody already knows and what they want to learn. If there are any topics you want me to cover, let me know and maybe I can cover them in future videos.

I think "How to create any sound" is quite misleading - you're simply explaining basics of how to use a synth. I'd like to see a whole process of you recreating a certain sound and explaining it along the way.
