After 3 consecutive years of only getting faster, the 19 year old Knighton has officially marked his name as one of the greatest 200 athletes in the world, but will he continue his success into next year's Olympic season and perhaps make history in the 200 meters?

@User.Joshua
@User.Joshua 8 ай бұрын
@@brianwhoreadsobjectiveinfo1122 it doesn’t exactly work that way. Weight lifters are missing many of the fundamentals of sprinting, like: technique, power-to-weight ratio, muscle endurance, maximum output training, and a plethora of other things. If you’ve ever weight trained, I am sure you’ve experienced better performance in relation to when you first started; running faster would be a consequence of stronger legs for example.

It is no surprise that Knighton started working on his 100m this year. Not only will it make his 200m faster by working on the start, but because of his great skills in the 200m, once he learns to get a good start, he'll look world's better because of his stamina and top end speed. Projecting Knighton’s ceiling is impossible but his trajectory is unparalleled. I’m Erriyon’s biggest fan and believe in the kid, but nobody can determine if he is capable of taking the next step. Some guys peak early and never improve. I don’t think that will be the case with prodigy Knighton but making Bolt comparisons only places undue pressure on the kid. If Knighton stays healthy and keeps his mental focus, he can take down Bolt’s 200m record.

Erriyon's still in his teen body. Bolt at 21 was pretty much fully developed hitting his physical peak in 2008 obviously and slowly declining from there. Erriyon is still about three years away from hitting his grown man body. Just look at Noah and his brother Josephus' physical transformation from their teens- it's a massive difference. When Erriyon hits age 24 or so I don't think anyone will be able to touch him but Noah will still be in his prime and Tebogo is steadily in that class of sprinting, so it should be most interesting.

I believe that he will do similar to what he has done this season. He'll make running sub-20s look casual and will run a faster season average, discounting qualifying races in both years of course. I think he will make it to the top of the sprinting world, including potentially the WR, but it will be a slow grind to consistently get close and one day, the conditions will be borderline perfect and he might finally do it. Knighton has a factor that Bolt didn't have and that is the presence of Letsile Tebogo. They are a similar age, they have similar PBs in the 200m, they've both challenged and lost to Lyles. Having such a strong competitor there should be beneficial as they can push each other to new and greater heights through the years, as long as both stay healthy and hungry.

People can be mad if they want but we’ve been hearing this story for a while now. Junior records are great but don’t always translate to WR or dominance later on. People have a way of basically writing things in stone for young talents before they actually achieve it. Bolt never ran 19.49 as a junior and he has a wr record that we may never see fall. The blatant truth is nothing is set in stone and we need to stop putting expectations on these young athletes and pretty much saying they are about to do this and that. Every year fans say that he is coming for lyles and it sounds like a broken record. Maybe in the distant future when lyles is well past his prime he will be the dominant figure in the 200m, but until that happens people will just use the excuse that he is young and not fully developed.

2028 would be my guess as to when he will be nearing sprinting prime. He should be 24yrs old then. Plenty of sub 19's under his belt. Better confidence, and Tobago pushing him. I think right now Lyles is in his head, and that is a mental barrier to him beating him. Tobago just started running with the big boys, and he is also still learning to run the race. However, Tobago has a top time in the 300m also. I know the popular thing is for Knighton to run the 100m to get faster, but I think he may be better suited to the 400m like Michael Johnson.

I think that there was either the god of all doping scandals behind those 2008 and 2009 times for Bolt, or Bolt is just so far ahead that he's an alien. His times are just so much faster than everyone else that it's hard to imagine anyone hitting them. 9.58 is literally over a tenth faster than anyone else in modern history. A tenth. That's...miles in that event. The 19.19, as ridiculous as it is, looks pedestrian in comparison at .07 seconds faster than Blake at 19.26, but then you realize that the only other person is, again, over a tenth behind with Noah Lyles at 19.31. As many times as it's been said before, I don't think those records will fall any time soon. Though, if Knighton is pushed to the brink by Lyles or vice versa, maybe we see those records tumble. Doubt it though.

One thing to note about, Bolt, Johnson, and Lyles is muscularity. I’m think Erriyon needs a bit more strength to get where he wants to be.

There is a glaring omission to the comparison to Bolt and that is the 100m.....Knighton needs to post some top 100m times to get close to Bolts 200m record.

I kinda feel like Knighton has already made that step that Bolt made in 2007/08. I think he has just reached his potential earlier that Usain. However, I so hope that he proves me wrong. All the best to this guy, I would love for him to be the next big thing in sprinting and have an amazing rivalry with Tebogo.

Knighton can compete for Bolt’s records but he’ll have to hit the weight room. You can see the difference in Bolt’s body from his U18 days to his prime at 21 and 22 years old and that’s what put him over the top.

When Bolt burst onto the scene he literally broke his personal bests every time he ran over two seasons,....when he was peaking which was when he was 22/23 Michael Johnson stated he would have a huge problem maintaining or beating his two world records, 10.69 and 10.58, and then 19.19,.....johnson was peaking at 28/29/30...bolt peaked in his early 20s, he struggled after that to focus in my mind,........Johnson stated he worried that bolt would be able to focus on getting better after breaking all records, at this time every time he ran he knew full good bar a fall he would win by 5 /10 meters. he was 10 meters ahead in the 100 meters and 20 meters ahead of all opposition in the 200,. meters...I think Bolt could have gone sub-19 in the 200 but his heart was not in it.....He was a very poor technician in both, but his side and genetics helped him,......some are destined to do what they do but Bolt could have been a record holder for 50 years, he was happy at 23 to be famous and his results went down after that era.............fame.....

@johnknight-8mwcg: I was under the assumption that the doping testing got more strict and that is why Bolt got slower as he got older.i agree with what you say about what his potential could have been if he has addressed the technique like you mentioned ...

@@paolocastellano343Johnson's technique in his events was perfect to watch, he never changed, It was like a well-oiled machine, and that is why he was so fast, or part of the reason.......Bolt was awkward, a poor starter,Arms all over the place not aerodynamic in the least, and each race would see a different bolt technique, but super fast over the last part of the races....the 1st 50 meters was as though he was just getting his legs going, the last 50 meters or of the bend in the 200 was his time in those races.......basically unbeatable in the 200 for the last 50 meters........Once he had broken the world records 9.59 and 19.19, he never got close to them again, and his fame went worldwide, I think he could have dropped these times with ease actually, he was a kid, and most men peak in their late twenties before injuries take over......in his late 20s he was just about holding on to wins by a meter in the 200 and the 100 was up for grabs.......it was a fascinating journey to watch and as you rightly say did doping have an influence on his performances.........I remember Bolt being beaten just before he turned pro, he did not look anything special, and then he started knocking chunks off his times and people started talking about this kid who had knocked a second off his 200 meters in one season as somebody to look out for.........The rest then happened very quickly, maybe too fast to be natural........as you pointed out.
