Where's Mocha Gypsy now? In Costa Rica, where my daughter and I have found peace and safety in the aftermath of Domestic Violence and abuse.
Our story is not for the faint of heart. After years of abuse, oppression, and enduring the corrupt family court system in small-town Wyoming, that failed to protect us, we finally found safety and a new life as asylees in Costa Rica. We're so grateful to have found refuge and a new home here! We hope that our story can inspire others.❤️

Thank you! Costa Rica is a diverse place with something for everyone and we've lived in several places. What is your general budget and what type of environment do you prefer... Urban, suburban, rural, beach, rain forest? What vibe do you prefer... hippy, sophisticated, etc.? My general advice is for people to stay in the Central Valley (San Jose area and its suburbs) their first year before venturing out. That way, you're in a large community of other expats and are close to services (medical, legal, financial, social) that cater to expats.

Also, what is your view about vaccinations and COVID vaccinations? I ask because vaccinations are mandatory for children here. If you are against it, there are people who can advise you on how to work around that or you may want to consider another country all together. Just something to be aware of as a parent.
