I think that the tie is now in Real Madrid’s hands. Yes it’s the worst Bayern Munich team we’ve seen in years and you would think that drawing to them is a disappointment, the champions league is a different game because no matter how poor their form has been this is still Bayern Munich they have a lot of quality players and getting a draw at the Allianz Arena is a good result. After the first leg it was 2-2 between both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, but overall I think Madrid should be happy with the result. In some sense this was a chance blown by Bayern Munich because they played well for the most part of the game and even though they went behind, they reacted very well and took the lead in the 2nd half, but Real Madrid are just inevitable in the champions league and they always find a way even when the tough gets going and we’ve seen that mentality from them all season which is why they’ve literally lost just 2 games altogether. Bayern Munich’s defensive errors and inability to take their chances will come back to bite them because realistically do you really give them a chance at going through in the 2nd leg. Even though Real Madrid weren’t great, they have that resilience in the champions league that cannot be matched by anyone and they’re going into the 2nd leg with a lot of confidence at the Bernabeu.

This post my be unpopular, but Ancelotti decision making were really left wanting. Vini and Rodrigo were both affixed to the left attacking role, there were not much play on the right. Vasquez was awful this game. He made plenty defensive mistakes and was woefully lacking in the attacking section. Mendy was absolutely terrible but Ancelotti still took off Nacho who was solid and didn't play a sure full Militao. Why wasn't Brahim not played earlier, why was Vasquez allowed to play 90 minutes. Strange coaching decisions when you have Arda on bench, Fran Garcia and others! Bayern is in this fixture because Ancelotti got way to deep into his head. Vini to the rescue...Again!

Kim and Upamecano have been the main reason why Bayern has a poor season. Sure, there had been a few problems all around but the defence was the main issue. Once DeLigt came back from injury and Dier joined and got the chance to show what he can do, the defense stabilised. Kmmich going back to also helped and Mazraoui is also a much better player than Davies. Kimmich DeLigt Dier Mazraoui, if any of these four are injured, Bayern is vulnerable.

Madrid have quality players, they let the quality players play freely. They don't attempt to create an identity for them, or a system of play. Their team is very much free flowing, and setup oriented. I think Carlo coaches players like chess pieces, he knows how each is going to perform and tailors the game plan to the board.
