I’d also argue that Madvilliany is an essential rap album to have In your collection.

I need to listen to that album and give it my undivided attention. I always say there’s a difference hearing music and listening to music. I’ve heard it, it’s hard not to as a fan of hip-hop doing your research but I really want to listen to it and see if I connect with it. By the time I do part 2, maybe it’ll be on there!

Good video bro. Im a huge hiphopnerd but only just starting collecting vinyl (with my brother). We got ready to die, illmatic, paid in full and operation doomsday now. So was very nice to see your thoughts on the matter man. I got ready to die with the original cover btw

I made a video on my channel where I show off a very basic beginner record player setup and in there you can see it. I use 13’ cube organizers from target and stand them up. You never want to stack them because they’ll get warped

One of my favorite verses from Dre is on Nxgga Wit A Gun. Underrated track!! Aint it crazy how Biggie had the better debut album compared to Pac but there’s always gonna be a debate on who’s better. Considering how much content we get from Kendrick, its unfortunate to lose Nipsey for the West coast.. 🕯 Definitely agree College Dropout & GKMC to be more essential than MBDTF & TPAB

The original of the Illmatic is very common in my country so it’s easy to find here but there’s probably also some vinyl in America that are very easy to find that I can’t get here

I was going to buy that Drake record but noticed it’s a misprint w Take care on the back. Target had it for like 25 bucks i’m like that’s a steal and then i looked at the back

That’s how I got started when I was younger! Straight CD’s and then I transitioned to vinyl. I know it can be really expensive.

Cds take less space and easier to listen to. But records give a nice classy feel. I wanna get more hip hop/rap cds myself

I’ve been collecting a long time now but various record stores in my area, some through online like Amazon, Target, Etsy for some unofficial records. Rollin Records is a good one too.

As a fan of hip-hop, I’ve definitely heard it but I didn’t give it my full and undivided attention like it deserves. I’m definitely going to do so because whenever I ask about albums, that gets mentioned a lot so I want to make sure I listen as compared to the past where I just heard it.

Well, as far as the video goes, the video is essential albums you should have in your collection, not the greatest hip hop albums of all time, that changes the discussion. Of course you have to mention Eminem in the greatest rapper conversation and bring up an album from him in the greatest albums conversation because of that. I do have a video coming out where I'll be sharing classic debut albums I have in my collection, which, spoiler alert, I'll be mentioning The Slim Shady LP because I think it's a classic. As far as Drake goes, I mentioned Take Care as an honorable mention for the current generation because Drake is the biggest rapper in the world, he's been the face of his generation for a long time, and I mentioned a good amount of 90's records, so to for them, Drake/Cole/Kendrick may be more essential because they might not be familiar with the artists I mentioned in the video such as Nas, Pac, Dre, & Biggie. At the end of the day, my opinion is my opinion. Where you feel Em is the best rapper ever, I don't share the same feelings. I have others ranked ahead of him but I also acknowledge he's in the conversation, which some people won't do. That's what makes music great, it's subjective and opinion based.
