Estey Minuette Organ, "For All the Saints"

Amy Crousore performs a hymn arranged by Hal Hopson. The instrument is a rare Estey Minuette pipe organ of three ranks built to look like a grand piano. All pipes are contained within the case. Very few of these instruments survive.

This proves that Estey was ahead of it's time when it came up with this self contained fully functional pipe organ complete with blower that needed no installation and could be put anywhere desired. Brilliant!

As a new owner of an 18 stop Estey reed organ (and a Rodney Jantzi fan)...I appreciate your fine performance/demo of this magnificent and rare instrument....Thanks for sharing....JRZ

That's a very authentic sound for such a small instrument. Free reeds can really blend well with pipes.

There are no reeds in this organ. Three ranks: Diapason, String, Stopped Flute.

@@ampicoab - can you achieve different "stops" by a careful blending of these ranks (I see 14 tabs; maybe some are couplers?)

Excellent playing of this wonderful hymn. I love the organ. It has a great and very authentic pipe organ sound, you can tell that this is no electronic organ. Would you mind posting a stop list of this instrument? Thanks.

where are the pipes located?

The pipes are all inside. If you watch, you will see the swell shutters opening and closing on the top of the case. The pipes are mostly Haskel pipes which means they are all mitered to fit in a small space.

I wish people like Hal would stop "re- arranging" familiar tunes and ruining it in the process- they should write their own stuff from scratch not munge someone elses' scores!

Perhaps you should look at his ouevre before you speak? He is one of the most widely published church music composers of all time and a fine musicologist to boot. Settings are one of the ways many composers make great music accessible to all.
