Very interesting show. Thanks for this. at the start of this Athletic Bilboa are playing Barcelona. Strange to think years later Barcelona and the Catalonia people would feel the same as the Basque people.

Guessing watching this show it was 1970s . Herri Batasuna had 17% of the vote were SF only had 11% of the vote. I wonder in their wildest dreams would they have have predicted total autonomy and SF being the biggest political party on the island of Ireland. Our world does really change

They are really not playing Barcelona, but Atlético Madrid. Among other players you can clearly see Paulo Futre. At. Madrid is using their away kit, as they both play with the same colours. Strange is that at Madrid was founded by Ath. Bilbao players living in Madrid in the early 20th century.

Used to live in 'Euskal Herria'; Iruña. Saw a 'Herri Batasuna' guy get shot dead in street under the 'Ley de Fuego' law, 1991 I think.....

That's Fermin Muguruza and the song is a track from his group Negu Gorriak called Amodiozko kanta

Their were definitely connections between ETA and OIRA in the late 1960s and 1970s. The Spanish who complain about Basque forget that Basque was banned until recently. If they don't like it they can leave

What about the INLA, who split from the OIRA? I know the they did a lot of deals on the continent and a large part of the reason for the split was the question of armed struggle, which the OIRA abandoned with its ceasefire and from thereafter. The INLA were politically Marxist-Leninist and so they surely must've worked together when the INLA sent representatives over to mainland Europe given their shared political views and struggle for national liberation.

If it is within my archive I will show it. I've had a look online for it but it does not seem to be available to view anywhere? I was within Donal's Vemo for Arthur and his videos but it was only based on Ireland - I did not know Art made this or others so thank you for letting me know chum. It's called "Euskadi: A Stateless Nation" for anyone looking for it online :)

I remember arturo villanuevd topped Spains most wanted list he lived couple of streets from me on falls rd Belfast lived there clatter of years until his arrest 13 or so years ago
