Makes me sad your kids didn’t take to it. Early 2000’s my dad brought out his old set and along with my older brother the three of us spent countless hours over the years obsessed with this game. Some of the best family moments we ever spent together were spent huddled over this game arguing over line calls. Oh what I’d do to spend months quarantining with my dad and brother playing this game....

I loved this game. Played it so much and with friends. I had the 1977 game I think but I ordered hall of famer disks later and it was fun mixing them up.

Loved this game back in the day had a 16 team league and 60 games seasons would play so much it would wear down my fingernail 😂 Remember looking forward each year for the list of new discs and then waiting by the mail box for them to come.

My dad made a baseball game for me when I was a kid in the fifties with results based on playing cards. He had made it for passing the hours in foxholes during WWII. I enjoyed that game, but wanted something more realistic. He bought me All Star Baseball and I could see that hitters had more realistic results based on their real life abilities. I was still not satisfied since there was no difference in pitchers. I bought APBA Baseball and was hooked. I played it ever since through many updates and computer versions. I still value those days when my dad and I played ALL-Star Baseball together and he would tell me about watching Willie Mays or Mel Ott or Josh Gibson. My dad has been gone a long time, but he is always with me through Baseball.

Thanks for the video. My dad had the 1954 version, which I still have. I need to create a Cy Young disk.

Cool video and history lesson about Ethan Allen and All-Star Baseball. I still have my 1970’s version, but have not played it in awhile. In the late 80’s I used to play games and had a spread sheet with all the players stats from the games I played. Great memories. I wish that the cards had player images on them instead of just the names. Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Thx for the better history of the licensing, i recall the story from a guy who worked at cadaco, who sold me lots of cards, and over yrs thought it was more mlb and they couldn't compete with what vid game companies were paying, which is partially true too, as he told me. Great vid, dig some cards that ive been making.

My neighborhood was led by 4 baseball freaks. (Think the Sandlot) we had some great players and summer as multiple it real games , wiffleball and finally All Star Baseball !! We hadleagues amd kep ste stats and boxscores for all !! For Cadeco All star baseball we drafted 4 teams and player 81 game seasons. I had the pirates (all Pirates of former Buccos we on My team, then we filled out or 20 batter roster. Add 12 pitchers in our draft) later we found you could order nearly whole seasons and we all would play 162 games full seasons for our actual teams. Getting together for games bereeen our teams . The other ganes where honor rule games we could play alone. The games we got together for were Pittsburgh Cleveland The Yankees and the Reds. Great times. These games were from like 73 to 80 then off to College though. i still played on my own during the summer throughout college. Later when to strat o matic from like 22 to 28. And yes i kept playing competitive basball and later softball throughout college and then as a grown ass man till i was 47. Hahaha

Loved this game as a kid, both solitaire and in tournaments with the kids next door. Eventually "graduated" to Sports Illustrated Baseball Game, a dice-based game that included one page per team on color-coded magazine paper and more intricate player statistics such as fielding and baserunning proficiency.

I have an old '50s version of the game though I play by the original rules back in the 1940s. I love that the number three is error (safe at first). More offense to the game. Even hitting fly ball or ground ball is different. For example, flyball 14 meant out, runners hold bases... Flyball 8 was out, but runner on third safe at home others hold bases... and fly out 4 was anybody on base advances one. The ground outs and singles also had various meanings which like the fly outs, eventually were used as scoreboard instructions.

Cool video. I have had many different versions of this game through the years, but usually I'd find the 70's version. I never played the game but always loved how the game looked. Thank you for the education. Had to watch this video too B4 heading to the gym. Looking forward to going through more of your videos later. Thank you for the great content & for sharing.

I still have my 70's set, including the board and original cards. Friends I grew up with gave me all of their cards, including from the 80's version of the game. One of their fathers had Hall of Fame cards from his 50's version. He discarded the board, but kept the cards -- and gave them to me. I eventually ordered updated player cards from the late 90's, even as I was spending more of my table-top time with the more realistic sim APBA Baseball. Cadaco All-Star Baseball is a lot of fun, but only hitting is simulated. Pitching is not integrated into the game. Even the pitchers' cards are just how they hit in the game, which obviously is meaningless (unless you're Ken Brett, George Brett's brother. LOL!).

I just bought a copy of this game off eBay a week ago. I really like it. It's very simple, but fun. The only downside I see is there's no use of the pitcher disks, other than as batters. Other than that, it's great.

You kept those in great shape. On the modern game, the discs seem to fit under the spinning arrow; does the clear piece just snap into place over each player? Good practice on learning how to score a game, too. Thanks for the lesson!
